04-05 Transmission failure poll

I did a search for this but couldn't find quite what I was looking for so I apologize if this has been covered before... also tried to do an actual poll but don't think I have enough posts yet.

I'm on the hunt for an 04-05 w/ the 5AT. I've read in detail about the transmission issues - especially on the 04's.

I'm a numbers guy, and I'm just trying to get a feel for the actual percentage of people who have had their transmission replaced & how many are still doing fine with their original transmissions, especially higher mileage.

I'm just trying to get an idea for what kind of probability I'll have of needing a new trans if I get an 04, which will most likely have around 40-50K miles already. Even if my chances are only like 1 in 3 that I'll need a new trans before 100K miles, then I'm ok with that because I love the TL's. But if it's pretty rare for an 04 or 05 to make it to 100K w/ the original trans - I may have to wait for a later model or Type S.

Thanks again for your input, this place is an excellent resource for future TL owners on the hunt!

Almost 4 years old and no transmission problerms. I know the early 04s did have a recall to install an oil jet kit.
