03 TL type S to an 04 6 speed ? ?
well the title says it all im thinking about trading up to an 04 stick TL hopefully with navigation. .my mom has an 04 auto with navi and the a-spec kit. . . but i want to get the ronjon kit. . . anyway my question to everyone here with a 6 speed is how do you like it. . . i don't want to hear people complaining about traffic stick sucks because my first car was a GSR and i didn't mind traffic. . i occasionally drive dads vette and thats also stick (im trying to say traffic doesn't bother me. . like it does others) . . . also what is out for the 04 TL as far as performance wise. . i have my 03 dropped on 19's painted to match ABP. . . H.I.D fogg lights. . with the OEM kit. . . . i didn't do any engine work cause i have tranny problems so im ready to move up and out of the tranny problems and go with stick. . . thanks guys and any comments would be appriciated [/IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/o3tlson19s/ostls2-15-045001.jpg[/IMG]

I'm thinking of doing the same too, too bad the stick and navi combos are rare, I have to have both. and headers on the 04 TL are not possible yet, do to the way the intake manifold is engineered with the headers or something. so intake and exhaust are just about the only things that can be really done.

Ordinarily I would say not to bother with going from an 03 to an 04... But if you are going from a 5AT tranny issue to a 6MT than I would say go for it... yet you might miss the 19s you have on your current ride....

I've got the 6MT w/nav and I love it. I drive in all conditions--bumper to bumper and on country roads. It is like no other manual I have driven. It is so smooth and effortless I sometimes forget its a manual. This is the biggest car I've ever owned, and wasn't sure about a manual....but it's great. This car moves much faster and easier than my VTEC Prelude...although the smaller Prelude with wide tires handled much better in the twisties....time for upgraded suspension in the TL. The TL's clutch is light and the shifter is tight and precise. You'll love it.

^^ werd. More than 15 months for my 6MT. Driving in the Bay Area. No regrets what so ever. If I had to do this all over again, I'll go with the same combo. 6MT, Nav, NBP/Ebony. The best car I've ever owned.

I drove both, and IMO the cars have different characters. The 2nd gen is more of a luxo-cruiser with a touch of sportiness. The 3rd gen is a lot sportier and more agressive.
Are you buying used? 6MT and Nav combo is hard to get because Acura doesn't make that many and the car is still very new.
Header is close to impossible on 3rd gen, because it doesn't have separate exhaust manifolds. The manifold is actually part of the cylinder head. So instead of 3 separate ports coming out of each head, there's only 1 port. Another thing, the cats are right after those ports. So far, the only bolt-on engine parts are intake and exhaust.
I have 6MT and love it. Smooth and very quick.

I have driven my 6MT/Nav 30,000 miles over the last 15 months. Delivered 12/5/03.
I have only owned manual cars. Several Legends, a 1st gen Altima, an E36 325i, and the NSX I still have.
I have an 18 mile commute that ranges from 20-45 minutes, each way.
The ONLY reason I even considered the 3rd gen TL was the manual.
It is a nice shifter. The throws are crisp, if a bit long for my tastes. Most people won't complain. The clutch is fairly typical Honda, but the drive by wire throttle and the heavy flywheel can make for abrubt tip-in of the throttle at low rpm.
It can lay rubber at will. Torque steer is an issue, but controllable if you understand how to launch a high hp FWD and where to apply the throttle on corner exit.
The car doesn't need any more power. It could use a stiffer suspension. I would like a throatier exhaust note, but I don't think I'm going to mod the car.
I have the Gunmetal A-Spec 18s for my summers (ES 100s) and the stock 17s for my Blizzak LM22s.
I don't know what your timeframe is, but I am always shopping for cars and thinking of various scenarious to replace or supplement my existing stable. I may be interested in selling my TL at some time in the future. It is probably one of the most desireable specification TLs, being the Anthracite/Ebony 6MT/Nav. It also has XM paid until 2/07.
BTW, here is my review of the 5AT vs. 6MT 2004 TL.

First I should state right up front that I have a VERY strong bias in favor of manual transmissions.. to the point to which I won't even consider the purchase of my personal machine, regardless of how nice it might be in all other areas, unless it comes with a manual transmission.
That said, the manual in the TL is excellent.. one of the best I've ever owned. Shifts are great and the shifter is fine in terms of feel and throw length in my opinion (and looks).
You will not regret getting the manual with this car.
