03 TL-S Vs. 02 Sentra SE-R Spec V

Well the sentra is my buddies car, so we take runs at eachother pretty frequently. His car is a 02 Spec-v 6 speed with stillen headers, nismo cai, and a plenum spacer. My car is a bone stock 03 TL-S. Well tonight we jumped on a vacant stretch of highway and decided to race on a roll from 40. Both of us in 3rd we gunned it and I pulled 5-6 car lengths on him. I hit 4th and we pretty much stayed equal with me maybe gaining slightly. We both let off at about 120. This is the senario everytime I race him BTW. He just keeps modding and tests to see how they help with his performance.

They just aren't as fast as they should be. I mean it's a pretty quick car, but making that the top of the line Sentra kinda stinks for those who think they can win all kinds of races

was there a reason u started off in 3rd? at 40mph u should be in 2nd at low RPMs. next time do it from a 30 or under roll, make sure ur in 2nd in sport shift mode and see the results, itll blow ur mind.

^Agreed. 2nd, to 3rd (and into 4th a bit) is the sweet spot...
Cool stuff. Get some mods to solidify your 1337n355.
Those Spec V's are a lot of car for the money. 6spd w/ LSD for ~$20k..
They are pretty quick. I've ridden in them. They pull pretty hard.

P.S. - We gotta meet up sometime. You, me, pizzal, tls-md or w/e...

I remember being around 4-5k in 3rd, so it may have been a little faster then I first remembered.

At 4-5k in 3rd, that would be about 50-60mph.

no way, at 60mph in 2nd you're still around 5500. you'd be very low in the powerband in 3rd prolly around 3500rpm

yea, I think it's around 5500 at 60mph in 2nd, but in 3rd, isn't it around 4.5k? I guess it also depends on whether you are WOT or not.

well it depends on how fast you are rolling, and in SS under ~30mph you'll be in 2nd, but when floor it, it'll just down to 1st right at VTEC. i'd rather gate shift then do SS.

From a dig, you'd want to keep it in 1st gear. But the problem is, with SS, sometimes the car will shift to 2nd gear way too soon if you don't go WOT right from the beginning. But if you go WOT right from the start, you might spin your tires too much which isn't a good thing. The solution to this is to gateshift so that the car would stay in 1st gear.
