03 TL-S 6MT vs 07 TL-S AT? Who would win/

Just wondering. Who would win? My friend has an 07 stock TL-S and i have a 6MT swapped 03 TL-S with Intake and Pullies. Just curious if I'd get my ass handed to me or not. :P

It will be close. If it were a 04-06 TL 5AT, then I say you'd win. But the 07+ TL's have improved 5AT which helps acceleration/response somewhat. If you are really good at 6MT though, you might win. I believe someone in the 3rd gen forum dynoed 230-240whp for the 2007 5AT TL-S. I believe 03 CL-S 6MT is at about 220whp. But new AT TL-S is 100-200lbs heavier than your car.

yeah i'd agree with ^
i took on an auto tl-s, 2nd gen on the freeway a few months back, and he pulled by a tad bit...course i had another person in the car...

i'd say the 07 tl-s would be take ya...BUT THEN again 6mt always seems to be > than those autos...

go for it...! you guys are both on the "same" side ne ways...haha

I've hung with an 07 TL-S AT before. He got the jump, but didnt really pull on me. My front bumper was at his driver side door the whole time...

It was pretty even, although he was stock and I'm pretty modded.

I think you'll get him since you got the 6MT, but I'm sure if you had headers it would help out a good amount as well.

i have xs headers, theyre just not installed. My car is lowered on comptech springs, and they're very bouncy. I'm afraid of denting then cracking the headers, so im going to wait until i buy an adjustable suspension set (maybe teins or something) and install them then. also thinking about the tb spacers and the manifold spacer. we'll see how it goes.

More like easily win, I have ridden in a swapped 2nd gen, and a stock 04-08 A/T TL doesn't have a chance. A stock 04-08 A/T TL is a drivers race for a stock 2nd gen A/T TL-S from my experience.

heyitsvu, slap on those headers and you should be ok. If yours is close to as fast as fsttyms1's 6 speed is, you will be just fine. I love ridin around in his car, so dang smooth!!!!!!

Break in the clutch first before you do anything!
With that aside, catch him on a dig and i'm sure it'll be a close race.

I think you will win with your 03 TL-S 6MT. The 07 TL-S 5AT is a stock mid 14 second car. I believe your car is a tad bit faster than that. You not only have mods but the 6MT gearing is so much better than the 5AT gearing. Your going to be as fast as a CL-S 6MT would be with those mods. Your probobly running low 14's. You should beat him by a car length or 2.

he has mods??.....ah..he does...my bad for not reading the post carefully....intake and pulleys...don't worry too much then, you should take him. Stock CL-S 6MT has done 14.1s before, with your mods, it's not surprising if you break into the 13's (referring to what people have done in the CL forum).

you'd be surprised what you can beat with this setup. I was able to beat a 350z and im pretty sure that it could beat a 07 tls.

I completely destroyed an 05 altima 3.5 by like 10 lengths. I think it would be a good run, and hell be upset that your car can either beat or at least stay with his. you should definitely record and post it.

sounds like a plan. well his wife lives in santa barbara. he bought the car for his wife a few months ago. It's funny because hes like 35+ and he has the heart of an 18 year old. I can't wait to put the TL-S to shame........

Well I will say that the altima wasn't fully racing you then. Even with your setup you wouldn't take out a 05 3.5L altima by 10 car lengths. Stock the 5spd auto even runs mid 14's and the 5spd MT is in the low-mid 14's. Even F23A4's son ran mid 14's with traps in the 96+ MPH range. I wouldn't doubt you could take out that car but not by 10 cars.

well I don't need to defend myself, I know what I did and I know how much I beat him by. he even told me that right before he shifted into second he heard me shift into third.

either way, heyitsvu make a vid.

Well after that post you will sure have to defend yourself after reading that nonsense.

That is impossible. Your car isn't that fast bro. That means when the Altima was just about to shift into 2nd gear around 40MPH that you were shifting into 3rd right around 65MPH? So your car does 0-60 in the low 4 second range right? lol

Remeber a stock 3.5L altima 5spd will run 14.2-14.6 with a good driver in the 1/4 mile. Your car would have to be running mid-high 12 second 1/4 miles to be beating an altima like the way you describe it. I don't believe you!

Like I said I don't doubt you beat him. Your car is capable of it with what you have done to it. But there is no way in hell or in any other world that you could put a altima back 10 cars with your setup.

geez... when I fix my car ill race him again and record it so I can show you. it may not have been exactly 10 lenghts but he was way the fuck back there, he even said it was like 10 cars.

but to satisfy your doubt I will make a vid..... just gotta wait till the ride is fixed.

lol....yeah I know, but I see that dude every weekend so when it is eventually fixed ill race him. I guestimated the fix at around 400 bucks. so it won't take too long.

but back on topic, heyitsvu, when are you supposed to race that new tl-s.

Are you kidding???? Yes there have been quite a few that have taken the 6 speed out of the '03 CL-S and put it in the 2nd gen TL and TL-S. Didn't come like that stock, only AT, but people have converted.

I'm well aware of the converisons, I just didn't know it was common. The way the thread was phrased made me think this thing was OEM.
