02 S2000 vs 06 Supercharged TL
So tonight me and my friends did a few runs. His vehicle is a 2002 S2000 with buddy club exhaust and fujisubo intake. My TL is a 2006 supercharged TL (Automatic). The runs were done on a very very very very long straight away. (1km long)
We did a total of 6 runs, and I managed to beat him every single time including once where he cheated and launched ahead of the signal.
All runs were done from 0 up to 120km/h. I was very surprised that i was able to launch better then the S2000 considering the car is 700lb lighter, is a manual, and is RWD. From a standing start, I was able to launch ahead of him and the TL just start to pull away. By the time I shut off, he was way back in my rear view mirror. All runs were done with VSA off.
We rested for a bit after 3 runs and my friends argued that it must be the driver problem. They switched drivers, and we ended up with the exact same results. The runs were all done with only the driver in the car, no passengers.
Overall, I am pretty happy with the performance of my TL, especailly it being an automatic. However I do not believe this is a fair comparision due to the fact that my TL is modified and his S2000 only has exhaust and intake, but it's still fun to win!

I'm Down Right Fierce!
That sounds right.
The S2000 is a great sports car, but it's not really known for it's power. It's better known for it's performance on a track; it's handling is absolutley awesome.
However since the 350z's came out however, their sales have been dwindling since you can get the Z which has about 60 more HP.
A SC'ed TL should be able to take a non FI S2000. THink about the sheer difference in HP, it's almost a 70 hp difference at the wheels.

The S2 is an awesome car. I had one for 3 years and loved it. I drove it hard, and put it away wet every day, and therein lies the problem. After 3 years, it started having too many problems and I got rid of it. Love my 05 6MT, and stock for stock, I think it's a drivers race between the two cars.
I later found out my S2 had all the problems because the chassis was actually twisted just enough to cause multiple drivetrain issues (tranny, differential, clutch, miscellaneous driveline vibrations, etc...) So I would definitely buy another one if given the chance!

I don't have any track time yet as tracks here are closed for the winter. However I will be dynoing my car next tuesday.
I know my TL does have more HP then the S2000 and would probably win in the top end, I just never expected to launch at head of him everytime considering he is much lighter and is also RWD.

The S2 is a very hard car to launch. I had it down pat in my car.....
Bald Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's on 17" Motegi wheels with a 7400 RPM side step I could pull off a 2.0 60' time at the track consistently.
