Hey Mikey, if your not having any issues going into 3rd gear than the previous owner probably had it serviced.

Whenever I purchase a used car however, I always assume the previous owner is out of compliance in regard to the maintenance schedule. I always give the car a full tune up. Change all fluids, filters (fuel, oil, air) spark plugs, etc. I also clay bar and wax the car as well as give it a very thorough detail, including deep conditioning the leather.

Over board? Perhaps. Better to be safe than sorry. plus, it's a great way to aquatint yourself with your new car.

Indeed.

That autocorrect made me laugh more than it should have.

Let me know how it feels, about to do the 2nd oil change this weekend.

Yea, I do that as well. Pretty much changed everything except the gear oil when I got the car. The first gear oil change was the Acura MT oil this past weekend. Can't say I notice a difference tbh. This upcoming weekend, or maybe the one after, I'll change to the GM syncromesh.

I changed it and definitely did notice an improvement. I bought the car at 104k miles so I don't know if it was done previously.

Thanks for this thread and the other similar ones and the Synchromesh recommendation. I was able to change my fluid last night. To my surprise, just over 4 quarts came out. Whoever serviced it previously must have gone on the AT capacity. So far, no more getting kicked out when shifting to 3rd gear and the shifts seem a little smoother. Hopefully it will get even better.
