$7,995 seems a lot for a-spec pkg
Dear TL fanz:
The other day I was in a dealership in Southern California (near San Bernardino) and saw a TL on the floor with a-spec on it. There was a like manually typed up sticker added on the window listing $7,995 for A-spec kit and $595 for carbon (interior cosmetics (steering wheel, trim, etc.)
$7,995 seems like a lot when I've seen the underbody kit go for $800 - $1100 on this forum. What do I get for the extra $6,800? How much can wheels, tires, and suspension cost?
The Consumer Reports pricing report does not even mention what the dealer pays for the a-spec kit. What price could/should I negotiate for the a-spec kit?
Thx,
-- TL shopper

the rims with tires is like 2300, the suspension is 1000, the body kit is 1000, and the steering wheel is 500. Then add money for labor and there is the entire cost. It should only cost like 5k though, that wat it says on acura's news site.

You're better off going it alone. I did the body kit for $900, the suspension for $600, and the tires/rims for somewhere just north of $2000.
I installed the body kit because it was simply, and I paid $300 in labor for the suspension to get installed. So $900+$900+2000 = $3800. Not too shabby.

$8k? They have got to be f-ing kidding!
On my TL:
A-Spec suspension: $600 + $250 install
A-Spec body kit: $757 shipped + $200+ install
A-Spec badge: $25 shipped + free install
----
Total=$1832
Didn't buy wheels or steering wheel, but if I'd bought them on eBay for $1500 and tires for $550 (same tires I put on my Ronjons), total would have been just under $4k.
So even if I included the steering wheel that just over 1/2 of what they're asking.
It's the same with the RL, I purposely didn't finance the A-Spec into my deal because I would've been raped. I just bought the A-Spec suspension and 18" wheels as a package from Curry Acura on eBay for $2000 shipped. That's the lowest price anywhere. My dealer was going to charge $2700 for the same thing! The dealer has already asked for just over $300 for install, a reasonable cost.
Lesson: Shop around, grasshopper, unless you have money to burn.
