damn that sucks bro. I have a fear of this with parking my Z anywhere period, even in broad daylight. I bet the thief though those type s wheels were aftermarkets.. Also i bet he took his sweet time late at night and loosened one wheel at a time, then pulled off all 4 off and ghosted outta there. Surprised he didn't take the brembos too.

Sucks, but not much you can do to stop it. Even with an alarm, people set them off by accident all the time, I've never seen anyone run up to a car with an alarm blaring or call the cops cause they heard one.

One of the reasons i hate people with Type-S wheels that aren't Type-S. It just promotes stealing.

Sucks man but if I were you I would have taken the check and gotten a set of wheels and tires slightly used. Probably could have gotten aspecs or something better for $600-$1000, and money left over could have covered your deductible.

But I probably would have done the same if I didn't have time to wait for a deal to come up. GL with repairs

Absolutely. This situation could have been much worse and there are many silver linings to this that I'm not as upset as I should be considering my baby was vandalized. Honestly, if I had a 2nd car and time to mess with this, I would have probably cashed the check and picked up some aftermarket wheels too. But I'm leaving to Malaysia on Tuesday for a 6 week business trip so I just want my car back to the way it was before I leave.

Currently, the insurance company is arguing with me about having to send estimators out which takes 2-5 business days even though when I submitted the claim, they said if I took it to a State Farm select shop, the shop does the estimate and repairs and no estimators are involved. I clearly identified that this was theft, but they made no mention of any estimators... I'm pretty upset now, not even because this happened, but because State Farm isn't giving me a straight answer on how to resolve this very soon.

The shop already ordered my rims and tires and they are arriving tomorrow. My car is currently sitting on jackstands installed at proper lift points. The tow truck guy is coming out with the wheels tomorrow, installing them, and then towing the car to the shop. I might have to pay out of pocket and argue with State Farm from overseas so that they reimburse me for all charges.

sorry to see this happen, man.

oh and isn't dealing with insurance companies fun? we pay them huge premiums every month, but when WE need help, they drag their feet and bullshit us and prolong everything.

someone hit my car 3 weeks ago, minor damage to rear bumper. yup, you guessed it, i still have a rental car today. unreal.

best of luck to you.

man this sucks, i've had wheels, stereos, ecu's stolen from my cars and on top of them stealing the stuff, it just feels like someone totally violated you. i hope they get theres at one point.

I'm installing air suspension right now, when parked I can drop it to the ground and take the remote, if you can get a jack under my car, get the locks off and get through my alarm, then you have worked hard enough and you can take my wheels. =)

20 wheel locks for $200? I'd rather spend double and not have to mess with 5 different keys every time I work on the car. Besides, those gorilla locks look like they can easily be removed with a 12 point socket and a nice hammer. Granted, if there are 20 of these bishes on the car, that's a huge deterrent, but being a deterrent still doesn't make it 100% safe.

Rimlox are pricey, $350~400, I am seriously thinking of investing in a set myself.

Just four locking nuts hidden under a dummy bolt .

Sorry to hear buddy.

I like justin's alarm suggestion.

As I was taking off my one rim (while car was armed), I made my alarm go off when the wheel hit the rotor hub, while my key was inside the house =(

ran like crazy to get the key to stop the alarm lol

Wow I am guessing these people have no jobs. Taking advantage of people who do work and have to sleep at night and can't spend it watching their baby. If anyone sees something like this going on hopefully there is action taken. This is just absolutely heinous!!!

I've heard of rimlox, but due to its price, I have a hard time suggesting them to anyone unless they have wheels worth $2k+

but they are definitely top notch and great security from what I've read

Honestly though, I'm willing to pay for piece of mind at this point. I already contacted them for a quote and I hope they have an authorized retailer in my area. New OEM TLS wheel set is worth ~$2400 with a decent set of tires and TPMS sensors. If they have a retailer in my area, I'm picking these up with no reservations about cost. The headache of this situation is absolutely worth $400 to me when considering arguing with insurance companies, losing use of the car, worrying about this happening again, and most critically the gut-wrenching feeling of seeing your pride and joy in a state like this.

Unless you have great outdoor lighting or outdoor cameras with night vision and motion detection, good luck getting anything remotely worth using.

I assume those are outdoor cameras?

Yup, $399 for locks to fit OEM TL wheels... but that price does include 100% replacement insurance (didn't read the fine print though).

Its all about the lux rating for night viewing.. And I have a friend that does nothing but video surveillance systems... and a little trick that I invented with a motion activated light module... Already caught someone trying to break in to our Tahoe a couple of years back. He had a very sad awakening...

Type S gear being stolen is picking up since there are more TL (type s- and non) out their for resale.. .. if you think about it and look on our black market Type-S wheels average about $700.. and used body kit around $400.. now that is for people in the know... others who dont know might pay more since they will compare to the dealer sticker price

@Vlad, that does suck what happened... what are you going to do when you go on your business trip? can you leave it at a friends place?
also did you talk to the CPD officer in your neighborhood? wonder if they are pissed it happened

Can't speak on Texas law but the stand your ground law in Florida does not permit someone to use deadly force to protect a car as in you see someone in the act of stealing your car/ parts off your car you can't shoot them dead or use a sword as another poster stated (if you do run inside grab a knife and stick it in between their cold dead hands lol jk)

because Florida.

Lol @ some of these posts. Yeah I spoke with one of the officers (not the commander, but another guy... there's a bunch actually) and he was totally stunned. He also mentioned that the police wouldn't launch an investigation unless a pattern starts to emerge. They didn't even come out to file the report, we just did it over the phone. I'm going to leave my car in my garage when I go. I haven't been using it because it jam-packed with crap. I've been cleaning it out but apparently not fast enough.

Update on the situation: they got the estimator out this morning and the estimate is something in the neighborhood of $2000. What happens next is the wheels get to the shop, they order a tow truck to collect the wheels, he comes to my car and puts them on and then it gets towed to the shop. This will all happen this afternoon. Then they will inspect and repair the rest of the damage. Now I just have to pray that this gets done in time. I've been very firm with all of these people, yet still polite. I'm glad to say that I'm seeing results.
Edit: they're also throwing in an alignment. I'm pretty happy now with the way this is being handled.

Glad to hear that your situation is getting taken care of. For those of you who have to park on the street, make sure to turn your wheels all the way to the left or right towards the curb so that it'll be hard for the scumbags to take all 4 wheels. Replacing 1 or 2 wheels is better than all 4.

you misread it.

20 wheel locks for $43. the gorilla ones have one wheel lock for the 20 wheel locks. granted anyone with a 12 point socket could take it, but really? good luck doing that with 20 wheel locks.
