$17,500 trade in value on 06 TL w/Navi

Thought you'd like to know how much the store where I work paid for my client's car. Pearl White/Ebony A/T with about 35k on it.

That's a good trade in value, I wonder how much they'd sell it for, maybe 21K.

Seems a bit low to me meaning the dealership got a good deal. I'm assuming the car was in good condition. 17,500 is would be fair to the client if the car had a few issues with it: curb rash, scratches, etc. Now for my baby, I would never sell it for that price or even 4K more.

That is a bit low. I just paid 27k for my 07 TL-S Certified with 31k miles.

17k trade in on a 06 TL is too low period. A dealer would never sell that car for that much.

blackbook dealers use but no one suppose to go by that as it is more of a dealer leverage. It is much lower than the other Blue Book prices.

I was refering to the 2008 trade in from LOVE MY TL-S,
Obviously at 17.5k they wouldn't sell it at 30K
LoveMyTL-SI got 27K for my trade in, 08 TLS with 37K miles.

Here's some recent car auction prices for 2006 TL's:

$18,400 35,709 Above BLUE 6GA
$16,800 31,803 Avg GRAY 6GA
$17,000 29,172 Avg SILVER 6GP
$15,000 69,806 Avg ANTHRIC 6GA
$16,200 45,215 Avg PEARL 6GP
$19,300 32,223 Above WHITE 6GA
$18,500 39,710 Above BLACK 6GA
$18,400 37,544 Above BLACK 6GA

You can compare these real prices to whatever guide you use....I do not know if there is NAVI or not in
the above cars

I think you are misunderstanding the conversation here. They would not sell a 06 TL for 30k. 17.5k is too low of a trade in on that car.

To the other poster, Auction prices are always much cheaper than dealer prices.

The auctions prices are shown for comparison purposes in relation to "trade in" values and whatever pricing guides people use.

Wow some of you are getting a little upset. If you are selling or trading your car and don't like the deal, don't go for it. 17,500 trade in value may sound low but what about the other side of the deal? How much was the price of the replacement car. Dealers aways try to tell you they will give you so much for a trade but then inflate the new vehicle price to make up the difference. It's all smoke and mirrors.

^ This is exactly why I don't trade in cars to the dealer usually- just one of my 6 cars owned has been traded in. Most people will do better selling the car themselves and renting a car for a few days or a week while shopping for the new car even factoring the sales tax savings on a trade-in.

It behooves anyone doing trade-ins to look at any of the many valuation sites before seeing any dealer. I like www. Edmunds.com and others have been given in this thread already.

here's my experience, w/in the last 8 months, here in NC & SC:

April 09: Bought my non-CPO 07 TL-S M/T w/ 28k miles, for 25,000.

Over the next 60 days, my wife complains incessantly about the M/T. For kicks, I get a quote from a local Acura dealer, and CarMax.

June 09:
CarMax- offers $20,200
Acura- offers $22,600 (both figures are to buy the car, not trade-in value)

Two weeks later, Acura sends me a letter with a phone #, to call for "an increased amount than previously offered".

I don't call back- damn I love that M/T......

Luckily both my husband and I love M/T. If you wife would give it a chance-she would learn to love it, too.

lol...she already has a Camry (but its a '99, and I'm away on business half the time, so she thinks of the TL as the "back-up" car).
I'm not concerned, that Camry has another decade on it!

This is what I was hoping for... I taught my wife to drive the M/T when I bought the TL. Being a good sport, she drove the TL as a DD for 2 weeks- it didn't stick.

Even tho she took to it well (no stalls, smooth-ish excelerations, etc), she was stressed out the entire time.

She still drives the M/T occasionally, but she's definately not a fan (a subject I hear about frequently at home!)
