$1665 for Extended Warranty (7/100) from dealer

Hi

I am planning to keep my car at least 6 or more years.
The dealer pushed me to buy the 7/100 extended warranty at a cost of $1665 and I ended up getting it. The question is should I cancel it?

Thanks

I've never priced an extended warrantee, but for the first time in my life, I may look into buying one for my '07 TLS. I also plan on keeping this car (also for the first time in my life) for minimum 5 years. With all the sophisticated electronics systems on this car, it seems like a smart move.

So I think you ought to keep the warrantee unless you find out it's outrageously priced. I am going to be searching for one soon myself.

If anyone knows what these things are going for legitimately, I'd also like to know what a good price is.

The initial price for extended warranties is just like the sticker price on a car. It is the asking price. My 7 year/100,000 mile warranty asking price was $1750. When I showed the finance guy my "on-line" from another Acura dealer at $1125, he claimed it was not a "real" Acura warranty (he lied) but came down in price to $1150.

I have never paid full (sticker) price for an extended warranty from Acura and the one on my TL is my third Acura extended warranty.

Do what I did and call around other dealers until you get the best offered price. I told a few dealers I was unhappy about where I purchased my car (little white lie, I was very happy with Precision Acura) and that I was pissed I wasn't offered one. I ended up getting 7/100 for $985. I even played the card that I had scheduled an appointment with their service department and looked forward to doing service with them again. You might be able to get a better deal, but out of all the dealers I called this was the cheapest I was offered. (Davis Acura - Langhorne, PA)

I think it was the finance manager. I actually just got this taken care of two weeks ago. (bought my car in March) Can't remember his name but I'm almost certain it was the finance manager. Salesman as you probably can agree are helpless.
