Sunroof Squeaks
Hi all,
Anyone experienced squeaking and shutter noises from the sunroof when opening and closing it? I’m looking for a quick fix I can do on my own, but I thought I’d ask the community as well.
Thanks in advance!

I haven't personally experienced this, nor do I recall reading that anyone else has either. My recommendation would be to have the dealer check it out next time you're in for servicing.

You might try using Honda's Shin-Etsu grease on it. Expensive, but magic stuff.
I had the same issue on my TL. The dealer greased it when I had it in for service, and so far (knock on wood) no recurrence.

Every car that I have owned since 1977 has had a sunroof and I can count on one hand the number of times I have had it opened. Automatic climate control and hepa filtration of the outside air means I'm most comfortable with the car sealed up tight for a clean, smooth, quiet ride to where I'm going. At this point, I consider a sunroof just a waste of headroom and one more thing I have to check before I wash the car.
I'm curious if other RLX owners feel the same, or if others in warmer climates enjoy "letting the sun shine in". So, how often do you use your sunroof??

^^^ similar experience for me.
In the summer, it is too hot and A/C is always on. Plus the shade is closed to keep the heat down and sun off the leather. In the evening, though less hot - the A/C is needed for the humidity. In our winter & spring the pollen levels are so high, we have visible dust on our cars moments after washing (and sneezing). I use the sunroof primarily to vent out the heat after being parked outside.
I would be happy with a panoramic roof, even if it does not open, as long as it has a shade. That would not only increase headroom, but add to an already airy cabin.

However, on a nice sunny 80 degree day - there's nothing better than having the Krell cranked up, AC and ventilated seats on and the sunroof wide open. Sound like I'm ready for summer much??
I'm sure if I was in Florida in the same situation but with suffocating humidity to boot, I'd have everything sealed up too.

Thanks Limelight and jm2010-sh-awd!! I probably won't ask the dealer, but I will look into that grease. It's looks like I can use it on few other components such door hinges and such.
I love driving with all the windows down and sunroof back especially on those really nice nights in the summer and fall.

Good luck. Another great use for Shin etsu is to coat the weatherstripping around the doors and windows. It takes care of small squeaks/rattles and reduces wind noise noticeably. Magical stuff (and priced accordingly). I hate to think what it's made of (Moby Dick perhaps)?
