Push to start

My 2106 RLX, with 21,000 miles has a reoccurring problem that is starting to concern me. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this? When I push the start switch nothing happens. Foot is on the brake and it might take three or four attempts before the starter engages. This is an intermittent condition but the frequency is increasing. I took it to the dealer and of course they were unable to duplicate. First start after leaving the dealer it occurred again. Anyone here have anything like this happen to them and if so, how did they fix it.

This is a new one to me. No issues with my 2016. Did they check the batteries in your key fob? That could be a possible issue.

Both FOBS have new batteries and I have to wonder if there could be a connection. Changing them is straight forward operation but you never can tell.

If you want to rule out the key fobs, then next time it happens touch the key fob to the start/stop button and then press the button (since you said it takes a few tries to get the car started).

If it starts then its very possible the key fobs are not communicating with the system. If it does not start, then you can rule out the key fobs creating the problem.

The next thing would be the brake pedal switch, but the service department will have to check that.

Please update us, if it happens again.

Is the engine warm? The engine won't start if it doesn't have to on the hybrid version.

The dash will tell you if the remote batteries are low. Just changed mine.

This is a known issue with the RLX. i'll have to search but basically the battery is constantly being drained. I replaced my battery and the car started without issues for a while, then it started to happen again. It's such a pain!
