2017 navigation disk update
2017 navigation disk update
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT COLOR DISK SHOULD BE ORDERED FOR A 2015 RDX TECH? THEY ARE OFFERING GREEN, BROWN, RED AND PURPLE.
I ENTERED ALL THREE ITEMS REQUESTED AND VALIDATED IT BUT IT DID NOT SAY WHICH COLOR TO USE.

I put in 2015 RDX and it went straight to Purple..

It took about 1.5 hours to complete and the software version has changed from version 1.xx.xxxx to version 5.xx.xxxx but my database is still at version ST001.00.02. I didn't see the background update icon on the nav screen afterwards but I'm hoping it shows up on the drive into the office tomorrow.
Hi Daniel,
When I was trying to meet my son at a relatively new restaurant recently, I realized that I needed to update my Navigation Data.
[Used 2014 RLX with Technology Package]
Hope you don't mind a couple of questions:
1. Do you know if you Must get a DVD for your specific VIN?
2. Would someone else's DVD work on my car?
3. Did your Database get updated?
4. Could I have the update run while driving the car?
5. How often do you update your data? I could see doing it every 2-3 years, not necessarily every year, especially with Phone-based GPS available.
Thanks in advance for your, and presumably other people's response.

I updated my navigation a while ago with the 2017 Map DVD update (2016 RLX SH-AWD):
1. Yes you do, you get a specific activation code that is tied to your VIN.
2. Unfortunately it will not.
3. Yes it does, as well as the system version.
4. Not the first part (about 30-40 min), but you can the second part. You will need to keep driving (or keep the car running) until the DVD update part completes. the infotainment, and heat-AC controls on the screen do not work (the screen is black) but the physical buttons will work.
5. Every 2-3 years is good, although I update it every year......

Thanks for your quick and thoughtful response.
I'm still working on learning all of the incredible functionality that came with the car! Unfortunately my kids no longer live with me, which would make things a bit easier.
I've never had an owner's manual which is bigger than the Phone Book of the small town I grew up in!

Not to hijack this thread, but I seem to recall you are in the GTA and purchased a black 2014 SH from Downtown Acura which had a smell in the HVAC unit. Now that's its humid out, were you able to rectify the problem?
It's definitely better but still a very slight odour. It hasn't been anywhere near what it was before. How is your smell?
I decided I wasn't interested in going through all of that again (albeit still under warranty), so I traded it in a few months ago for a Sport Hybrid and have been enjoying the SH a lot. Maybe you'll finally see another SH on the 401/DVP!

No. You order the Navigation DVD, and you update it yourself.

Does anyone know what the changes are to the recent navigation disk update?
