White Cars

BUT....
That Resistall stuff we always argue about? I think it really works.
After a day with four kids in the car, everything cleaned up very nicely with just simple wipes.

That's what I'm thinking, only with black cars, of which I now have TWO to contend with.
At least white won't reveal every drop of rain after even a sprinkle.
Optimum No-Rinse, Zaino Z2, and Zaino Z7 spray are my constant companions in the little time I have to maintain the paint on my cars.

I personally am a big fan of white. It hides many imperfections from daily abuse and insist on the wife's car being white since she never maintains it. Small scratches aren't visible, rock chips rent visible, etc.
White even looks cleaner from a short distance away, longer than dark colours. At least in my experience, anyway. Silver does a good job hiding paint problems, but personally, I feel silver really downplays the lines of a car. Much more than white, anyway.

Designers often paint the car white to see the first version of their work. White is the color that doesn't hide ugly. But, not too many cars look good in white, including the RLX. I'd say the best looking white car I see almost daily in my neighborhood is a white GT-R.
Acura should have released the RLX only in black, call it the "black edition" and charge another $20k for it

My CBP TSX, on the other hand, I'm scared to wipe it down or wash it just because it's so easy to see imperfections. I cringe looking back at it during winter.

I agree. Most of my cars have been silver because they tend to show little of the dust which dominates Southern California. I have forgotten how the car looks in the rain. While black is beautiful when waxed and clean, I am not a detailing fanatic like some on this Board. If I were, I might have a black car. Since I am lazy, silver keeps my relatively untended car finish looking as good as it can with little work.

Back when cars competing internationally were supposed to be painted the national racing color for the country the teams were from, Japanese teams ran white cars. Honda F1 in the 60s, for example.
Think of your RLX as Japanese racing white.

Although black looks wonderful clean and glossy for example, truth is it gets covered in a visible layer of road dust as soon as you leave your driveway - and the inevitable swirl marks look absolutely terrible. The same applied to my GLM 4G TL. Gorgeous when detailed, frustrating when it wasn't. I detail my white RLX and if it doesn't rain, it looks just as good a week later as when I detailed it.

70th anniversary of VJ Day makes it a little worse, I think.
Dredging up memories.
Seeing the Queen at the ceremonies, and remembering that every country in the world was at Mountbatten's funeral...except Japan, because his will forbade their attendance.
Then there's the evident difference of opinion between Prime Minister Abe and the Emperor when it comes to how the war should be remembered. It sounds like the Emperor issued a public statement of greater regret, probably in reaction to the Prime Minister's refusal to do so.
Just a bad time of year for it, I think. :-)
