Interesting that you only press "Read" once ... mine has gotten to where I have to press it twice to get messages read.

I may have simplified the steps, but if I remember it comes up with choice of Read/Ignore
Select Read and it Reads without further action
I'll pay more attention next time

Question Hmmm

Something I have always meant to look into: does the RLX's ability to read messages depend on the phone?

I had a Samsung Android phone that worked with the car, then I switched to a Nokia Windows phone & the RLX never notified me of messages. I have since moved on to a Blu Android phone & again, no texts thru the car. I just assumed that it was a feature my new phone was lacking since I had the option in the vehicle turned on ... thanks!

It's about the phone. My iPhone lets me read messages, but I cannot respond through the car because the iPhone apparently doesn't support it.

It's the same old problem with iOS exploits and not following Apple application standards and recommendations.

When they were testing the system, somebody got it to work with iOS 6.**.**-something or other, but since they did not adhere to Apple's recommendations and standards, it isn't going to work with 8.**.** unless at some point they accidentally open the exploit again.

It's not that hard. I don't know why people think they're smarter than Apple.

Maybe a little grumpy, but true. And it's also just as true about software developers and other operating systems. Just because something works does not mean it is programmed correctly. If it is not, it will eventually break (or, more acurately, be broken by a software update). This is a long-standing problem dating from the Apple II (when I started messing with computers, before you all were born).

The car companies should get with it and adopt the Apple and Google systems instead selling these buggy and quickly obsolete "infotainment " systems.
