I saw a PAWS RLX on I-77 north, headed into downtown Cleveland this morning. YOHB?

neuronbob 02-28-2018 06:33 AM

I spotted a CBP pre-2018 RLX Sport Hybrid on I-77 north in Cleveland about ten minutes ago on my way into work today. I know it wasn’t my old one because that one was sold again on the East Coast. Glad to see one!

Was driving west on I-66 out of D.C. around 11:45 AM today and was passed by a 2014-2017 RLX hybrid with Virginia license plates that later took the exit to Dulles. The car was the same color combination as mine. Dark gray with ebony interior. I noted the camber of its rear wheels as being a bit BMW-ish. Interesting.

Saw a black RLX headed north on U.S. 29 about 5 miles north of Danville, VA today at about 2 PM. A good looking car!

Route 29 has become a popular test road for manufacturers. It is a lovely drive for most of its distance and will give you a combination of rural and developed driving, high speed and low speed opportunities, and mixed traffic conditions.

Because of the locations of assembly plants, you will see these new cars on Route 29: Corvette, GMC, Cruze, Cadillac SUV, Ford trucks, Jeep Wrangler, Honda Accord, Acura TLX, Acura NSX, Acura RDX, Acura MDX, Volvo, BMW SUV.

This makes Route 29 an even more entertaining drive, sometimes. :-)

JM2010 SH-AWD 04-10-2018 02:36 PM

I wish it had been that way when I lived in the Commonwealth. But you're right, it is a great driving road if not too crowded.

moose66 04-10-2018 03:28 PM

It can be a speed trap in some areas from the NC state line up to around Charlottesville. Especially those hilly areas where the cops can just sit in the median turn lane areas and wait for you to come barreling over a hill. Been there, done that.

TSX69 08-15-2018 08:33 PM

Hybrid

Finally saw a hybrid in the wild: it was a white 2018 MMC. I must admit that the refresh makes it more upscale looking.

What's a speed trap, in your view?

I've never been stopped along there, and I am almost always 10 over in the rural sections.

moose66 08-17-2018 10:27 AM

To me a speed trap is any area where you tend to just roll along not really paying attention to how fast you are driving, and where the local law authorities tend to sit a prey upon your lack of attention. Quite common on rural highways through small towns. Exactly what Rte 29 in VA happens to be in my opinion.

You're lucky. I've never seen a 2018 in the wild. Most Acura sedan buyers around here opt for the MDX, it seems as common as an Accord around here.

uptownarty 08-19-2018 07:07 AM

I'm thinking if purchasing one. Why did you sell yours?? Thanks

Saw two today within a 15 minute period here in the suburbs of Raleigh. Both black 2018's. Didn't get close enough to see what versions they were. One was heading into the heart of Holly Springs, NC on Main St. The other was cruising southbound on the NC-540 otherwise known as the Triangle Expressway. A rare sighting indeed.

My long tale of woe here.....but do not let that stop you from procuring a RLX SH, it's an amazing car!

I dunno. Maybe I've lived here long enough I have the right instincts.

I saw a Gilded Pewter recently. That is a rare color on an already rarely spotted car.

RLX P-AWS on Whitestone Expy

robscharp05 09-10-2018 09:04 PM

Saw two 2018 RLX Sport-Hybrid's in one day. I drive about 60 miles each day, but spotting two in one day in the same town.. WOW! Both purchased at St.Louis area dealerships: Dave Mungenast and Frank Leta. They are selling fairly well around here. I've seen a total of 10 2018's in the area since its November launch.

This car will age very well. Something normal for Honda design.

neuronbob 09-15-2018 06:42 PM

I certainly love the exterior design, especially after I added 20s that came out a little further than stock.

kingofire 09-16-2018 08:23 AM

Yesterday I saw my first RLX. It was the same exact car I have, a bellanova pearl sports hybrid. It was at the five corners on the Pawtucket/South Attleboro line. If you are on this site say hello!

I think it's very possible that these cars won't be popular until they're gone, too.

It happened with the ZDX and the 4G TL, nobody liked them until they weren't available.

SteveCoul 09-17-2018 01:42 PM

Kingofire - I saw a white RLX over there on Route 1 the other day too so it was one of you two guys. I drive a black PAWS advance. I've only seen 3 or 4 in the RI/ southern MA area in the 16 months I've owned and I didn't think I've ever seen a SH around here.

TSX69 09-17-2018 01:49 PM

+1

Someone @ my job just got a refreshed black RLX P-AWS. It definitely has more presence than the pre-MMC.

Nice first post indeed! It probably wasn't me because that was the first RLX I have seen. I usually stick around N. Attleboro area but do venture out to North and East Providence. I'll keep my eye out for your car and let you know if I see you!

MuGen7Modulo 09-20-2018 11:26 AM

Lowered and BBS. Looks interesting.

holografique 09-21-2018 09:11 AM

Wow, while Im not a fan of those BBS wheels (too overstated), I definitely dig the lowered stance. Makes the body design pop really well and makes it feel wider and tougher without looking all broken and silly (slammed).

Also helps get's rid of that bubbly "upside down bathtub" feel that the RLX body design still carries too much of for me.

neuronbob 09-21-2018 09:36 PM

I see the same CBP RLX PAWS around the "rich" eastern Cleveland suburbs (Pepper Pike, Gates Mills) on many mornings when I'm driving my son to school. YOHB?

kadluong 10-17-2018 03:29 PM

I live in Pearland, TX (suburb south of Houston) and I see several 2014 RLXs driving around. Mine has black rims and debadged rear, so people have asked what kind of car it was since all that's left is the Acura emblem. Kinda fun that way....I know I would go nuts if I saw a nice car on the road but couldnt tell what it is.

My 2018 Spottings. All were spotted within the St.Louis, MO area. I see about 3 RLX's a week on my 48 mile journey to and from work each day.

Mototech22 02-08-2019 03:29 PM

this morning i saw a copy of mine in 75N black PAWS,also saw a white and grey running around, then a couple months a go i got to see my first 2018 black hybrid.

neuronbob 08-18-2019 08:37 AM

Spotted a couple days ago at Sam’s Club in Oakwood Village, OH. My TLX A-Spec SH-AWD on the right. I think this is my 4th or 5th Sport Hybrid sighting in the wild.

neuronbob did you trade yours sh-awd?

neuronbob 08-19-2019 12:34 PM

Yes, I traded out early for the TLX A-Spec. Long post about issues I had is somewhere on the forum. It was just my car and not a widespread problem with the Sport Hybrid, and I still like the platform.

But TLX is a quite downgrade, isn't it?

neuronbob 08-21-2019 09:04 PM

Other than the awful ZF9 transmission (kill it with fire! :ugh: ), the TLX is pretty solid. I only miss the rear seat space and hybrid drivetrain, and the former is mostly because I sometimes drive my elderly mother-in-law around. She LOVED my RLX and rues the day I moved to a TLX.

wstr75 09-17-2019 04:13 PM

I saw a face-lifted (the current series) dark gray RLX in Durham, NC Sunday afternoon passing by Southpoint Mall. It got by me before I could see if it were a P-AWS or Sport Hybrid.
