I was hoping that maybe it'd be easy to change the system to allow us to reconfigure the Audio Sources' two screens, but must not have been.

We still can't move our audio sources between the two screens.

I am sure that kind of update would only happen if it was done by the dealer. At least that is how it was done for the early 2015 MDXs and TLXs. That software update was only performed by the dealer......

It'd be great to be able to put CD and something else on the back screen so that we could move up Pandora and Aha!

Who plays CD any more?

Did the 2016 RLX get significant improvements from the 2014/2015 or more the same.

Finally got my "2015 Brown" Map Update, and I want to re-emphasize that the update does indeed fix the annoying "flying cursor" problem with the NAV system. One can now, while driving, move the cursor with control; it no longer goes flying across the screen at the slightest touch. I was surprised that the Map DVD has code updates as well as Points of Interest, etc. But I guess it does.

For reference, in my 2014 Sport Hybrid, the NAV database was updated from ver. ST002.01.01 to ver. ST003.02.00, and the software was updated from ver 1.00.2b05 to ver 2.00.2b03.

I recommend this update just for the scrolling fix. Haven't noticed anything else yet, although the acyual mapping data is (are) still installing itself in the background while I drive.

I called the dealer and took appointment for tomorrow (tuesday) will post you what happened. Looks like the Brown DVD killed the Hard Disk.

The 2015 DVD or the newly released 2016 DVD? I ask only because I was thinking about procuring the 2016, as it's on sale now for $99.

Sorry to hear that! I do think it was just coincidence that it happened right after you updated your system. I updated my 14 MDX last week with the 2016 Brown DVD (they use the same disk for the update) and its been working fine.

I would insist on them changing the hard drive, you don't want this to be a frequent thing.....

I agree with pgeorg. "HDD Error" suggests the possibility of read errors. And random bugs are the nastiest kind to squash. If they do not have a clear cause for what happened, they should replace the drive.

As I posted elsewhere: you can remove it once it completes the loading from the DVD. You don't need it while the 5-hour background update is running.

And, if you do NOT remove it, it will pop up a warning when you stop the car, saying this is the wrong DVD for this car. My guess is it compares the version on the DVD against the version installed, and if they are the same -- you get the lame message.

****Update****

The dealership could not find anything in diagnosis. . So I may have to wait for the error to show up again and come back to dealership.

I've been living with the update for some time, now.

I have had no detrimental effects at all, but neither do I see any signs of any secret little code additions to speed anything up.

:-)

It's still just about as slow as ever.

I suspect that the slowness is due to bad choice of processor. Doubt if much can be done at the code level to speed it up.
