OBD 2 code scanner/clearing tool
OBD 2 code scanner/clearing tool
Hello,
I searched multiple ways on Acurazine but didn't have an success. I have a 2014 RLX Advance and I'm looking for suggestions on which OBD 2 tool to purchase based on users user's experience to read and clear codes. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Russell

I use the Autel MK808. It is one of the more reasonable 'full featured' devices I found. It found the engine ECM as well as mpst of the others. The $50 versions most often are limited to engine ECM.
The RLX is prone to the occasional 'code burp', sometimes caused by a weak 12V battery. In my experience, this unit can find and clear most/all of the thrown codes in the various systems in the RLX.
Autel makes less expensive units, and ones that are much more expensive. I suggest starting with reviewing the feature list and cost of the MK808 and start to compare within Autel and then other manufacturers.
Comparing the price level of the MK808 or similar unit you find to the cost/inconvenience of a dealer trip, it seems a bargain.
Software updates are free for a year, and are rather reasonable in cost to renew.
Unless an update occurred, the unit WILL NOT output a txt file of captured data for offline review. The data can be reviewed on the unit but it is not very user friendly to locate the time/conditions of when a code was thrown or a take deeper look in to the operation of the vehicle.
