My first 2018 RLX Test Drive
Recently had my TLX in for a transmission update, and I had to drive the new RLX. They had two RLX's, and I chose the Hybrid in Majestic Black with the Seacoast interior. My first impression when they pulled the RLX around was the presence of the new design. The new grill looks really good. The paint is beautiful as well as the newly updated interior. I think the interior colored steering wheel is a nice touch as well as the high contrast stitching in the Seacoast color. This is the first Acura in a while where it has the look on the road where you are staring into your rearview mirror watching it creep up on you. I powered it on, rose the rear shade, and off I went. I proceeded to the interstate and merged, where then the RLX no longer felt like an Acura. The lightning-fast shifts along with the 377 horse was an astonishing experience. I was immediately in love. The cabin was quiet yet when I wanted to hear the engine, I just stepped on it, it downshifted and took off with a roar. This RLX is a rare gem and is truly something different. It has just enough technology without being complex like Mercedes' new interface system. It had much road presence, a Mercedes grade interior, and Tesla-like driving assistants in typical Acura value. I also want to add that the seats are the best in the business. The comfort of driving this remarkable car is second to none.

What bothered me is Acura decided to not update the RLX's infotainment system like it did with the TLX, and the RLX is the flagship. The new capacitive touch interface is substantially better compared to the old resistive touch interface.

Bring your check book and title for your current car if you are going to trade it in. You might consider clearing out your current vehicle too of any personal items before going to the dealer. Just saying....
