Honda to make sweeping changes, return to cars that are not "designed by committee" | LeftLaneNews

Proof will be in execution, but good to see more talk like this coming from them. "Designed by committee" couldn't be more spot on for the incoherent and in-consistent designs we've seen across a lot of the models in both brands. With the exception of the new NSX, it's felt like for the last 7 years, there has been no one head design engineer overseeing the vision and overall direction of any one product to make sure that every aspect was in alignment and consistent with a design vision for that specific product. And then no one over top of that ensuring that there is consistency within the lineup to create a strong "brand" image. It's just been a haphazard mix of designs across the board, giving you an impression that things were just being thrown together quickly to keep new products rolling out the door...

The new Civic is a darling example of what a mess "designed by committee" can be. I swear the rear, mid-section and front all looked like they were designed by ENTIRELY different teams all together. I've seen a few as of late and I'm sorry, it's just a very ugly car.
