Smile Blessing in disguise

I got all sorts of warning lights appeared in the middle of driving home. Check Engine, Emission, Electronic Parking Brake, etc. showed up on my dash and MID. Drive was a little floaty (maybe it's just them lights messing with my judgement) Took my baby into service to have it look at. Battery was healthy. It turns out I needed a software updates. O2 sensor was throwing codes that car computer don't recognize (that's what the tech told me). 2 new updates were applied. One of them for the computer and the other engine and transmission. After the update, the car's driving dynamic changed to a little bit spirited, more nimble and reactive when driving like before (Sports mode was NOT engaged). My MPG seems to go up by 1-2mpg while ICE kick in more often with the same way of driving. And the car seem to be more stable and 'Planted'. Does this make any sense? I really hope this is not all in my head. I will try the Sports button next

LOL.... You're never going to know for sure whether your performance is better now or if you just forgot what the car drove like new. :-)

When they decided to replace my car's VCM rocker arm assemblies, I was going "Oh, wow!" for weeks afterwards!

If you report your MPG, people might be amazed. My lifetime average is 32.1 mpg, and I'm not exactly a light foot.

Unfortunately, dealers are going to tend to do this only if you're complaining about something that affects perceived performance. If you don't give them a real reason to do it, the tendency will be to view it as wasted labour, especially if it is a bigger dealership with manpower issues.

In my little home dealer's county, the unemployment rate is now below 3%, and it's not always easy to keep people in the shop.

Same Issue!

So, I'm driving to visit family this morning 300 miles away, and about 250 into the drive, all hell breaks loose! To be honest, the fuel light had illuminated, and I was pushing it a bit trying to make it to a BP station as opposed to the local fill-her-up boondocks station, but I had to really change my driving style the rest of the drive as all systems -- brakes, emissions, steering -- were all prompting problem warnings. Exactly as you described -- floaty, a bit shifty, not a confident drive at this point.

Anyway, we made it to the home residence, and now must decide what to do as it is Thanksgiving day... I read in one posting that I must wait 6 hours for the system to reset, but after having read this post, perhaps I should visit the local dealership (in this case, St Louis) if these warnings haven't disappeared. My concern is whether I should continue driving despite these warnings, if active, for another 30 miles to the shop tomorrow morning or have it towed? Would love some input from anyone...
