Acuralink App
Got the Acuralink smartphone app
So it can connect and get status of all systems in the car.
But, one of the items shows:
SH-AWD: OK
SH-AWD: Temperature OK
I guess it cannot tell which model
Also got the app for my other car.
App is way better. You can send destinations to the car along with many other useful features

Strange that it gives a bunch of vehicle info most of which you do not need unless you are in the car?
Example: Daytime running lights: Off.
You cant even turn the m off, so duh Car is not running and the DRLs are off.
Adaptive Front lighting system: Off. It has jewel lights!!

ok found the map and how to send destination
still think the vehicle status info mostly useless and even wrong as examples above
App for other car shows among other things:
Distance last trip
Energy used last trip (its an EV)
I can set Departure time and cabin temp, so cabin will be at temperature before I get in car
It has useful info and functions
still think the vehicle status info mostly useless and even wrong as examples above

That's the most useful feature. To do the same thing without the Acuralink App just takes too long.
It's mostly not helpful, but I suppose that sometimes you might want to remind yourself of the service interval (oil life) or the amount of fuel in the tank in order to plan your outing a little better, temporally speaking, and assuming you view time in a linear way.
oops
Almost got seriously distracted there.
Other than sending destinations to the car ahead of time, I have also used the Acuralink App when I was lost in a parking lot. The key fob will honk the horn and lights but of course in that case you'd have to be not *so* lost that the car could receive the key's signals. The Acuralink App on your iPhone will walk up the car's electrics by sending a signal via satellite or cellular, and it won't matter if something's interfering with the key fob or you're too far away.
Unlocking the doors in the rain? I suppose that could be useful.
Locking the doors after you've settled into your hotel and remembered you forgot? Yeah, I suppose that could be useful.
The single most annoying thing is how long it takes for the Acuralink App to establish a new connection with your car.
I don't know if it's cellular or satellite, or whether it tries both, but it just takes too long and I have no idea if they can improve on it. It seems to me, however, that with older versions of the App, it was quicker.
In future generations, with a better remote start system, I agree that it would be good to be able to interface with the car's HVAC system and even the NAV system from the Acuralink App.
