2014 RLX reliability inquiry

Hello,

I am new to the forums I am currently doing some research on buying an Acura and need some help.

I am looking currently at a 2018 Acura TLX 2.4 Aspec tech pack $25,500 (CAD dollars) 41,009 kms and a 2014 Acura RLX hybrid SH-AWD 63,000kms $22,550. I was just wondering if there are any common issues or problems with these vehicles. Also the RLX has had $17,000 in collision repairs. 1 hit was $9000, 1 $7000 and 1 $1300

I am currently driving a 2009 G37x with 173,000 km and the problems seem to keep piling up. I did 2 front wheel barrings, had to get the gauge cluster motherboard replaced (lights flickering and shut off) and the outside door handle cable broke.

Any advice anyone can get me?

The collision hits would give me significant concern vs. the TLX clean. Those cars have so much tech in the front. If it was repaired by Acura....and you can talk to those who did the work.....that may mitigate any risk.

Otherwise, the TLX would be my choice even though I'm partial to RLs.

Sounds like you want the RLX, but know the TLX is a better car. I've owned a few Infinitis, Nissan isn't as reliable, although it sounds as if you didn't do too badly, nobody really ever has with Japanese. My take, keep on shopping around for a less banged up RLX. Previous owner a problem driver? lol.

RLX Reliability

There are a few items of concern as you will see listed here by forum members. By and large the items are minimal.

BUT, do not buy one with damage from an impact. There’s just too many things that may never be right after repairs. Save your money and buy the good one you want and dont let impatience get the best of you.

Thanks all to the responses. I think I will keep my eyes out then for a cleaner title. I stumbled across the vehicle on autotrader and it seems like a cool car just very hard to find out the details about them. I had my eyes on GS350 2015 and a 2017 Ridgeline but they are just too out of my price range.

Depends what you want: do you want a sportier driving experience or a solid big car luxury drive? I drove the '14 RLX with the Krell sound package and that blew me away. I could see why it was nearly $60,000 brand new. Go look at both, test drive them both, examine each one carefully for what you want and make the decision.
