2014 RLX Advanced package vs 2013 Lexus GS Luxury fully loaded. Pros/Cons?

I have done a ton of research here. We have the Krell vs Mark Levinson stereo which I think they are both the same quality. If I am mistaken let me know. Both have the same amount of power. In my case I am looking at a PWS version of the RLX. Both have about the same reliability. RLX might have a little more interior room. Both have the same amount of power. 0-60 etc. The GS will have a little better interior then the RLX. The RLX will get slightly better gas mileage. Cargo Room I believe are the same. I am not sure but I will give more leg room to the RLX but not an issue. Ride quality? (not sure who wins here if you consider the suspension fixed). Road noise (GS luxury has double pane windows. I am not sure about the RLX). One of the Big deals is which car cost the most to service or they are about equal? Any other things I have missed or I am wrong about what I have described? One important thing what about the paint job? Both the same or the Lexus paint better quality and last longer and still looks new like the one I have now.

Does the RLX have the same Luxary sedan type sport ride the GS does? I have to drive 200 miles to just test drive one of those things. I haven't drove a RL since 2005. I know the TLX ride is great but I don't want a boring Lexus ES type ride and I am not sure if the RLX is like that.

This is what I am considering:

2014 Acura RLX Advance Pkg, $38,990 - Cars.com (the RLX)

2013 Lexus GS 350 - Park Place

For me it isn't about the dealership. Both dealerships here suck for both companies. Lexus lied to my face wanted me to pay $6000 out of my pocket for their recall and Sewell did it for free. Acura laughed at me when I asked about a car so I had to go to Dallas to look at one. So this is strictly about the car.

I checked the VIN and it confirms my view of the images. That is a Graphite Luster and not Crystal Black. That is an error on the Mercedes dealer's part as I'm sure they don't know about the rare RLX. That won't have any bearing on residual value. That is also indeed an Advance PAWS RLX. For that price, it's a better car than the GS. Buy it. You can always have the TSBs done at your local Acura dealer after purchase.

The GS will have a more flashy luxury interior than the RLX, has more emotional exterior design (which I like, thank you), RWD if you care about that, and a softer ride than the RLX.

The RLX will have better mileage (owners here are reporting up to mid-30's on the highway in the PAWS RLX), quieter interior (I almost can't hear the outside world in my RLX, quietest car I've ever owned), and sportier ride making for a more fun drive even with FWD. I call the exterior styling "handsome" but not flashy (I like it too) and the interior luxurious but Spartan (ie non flashy).

The RLX is the better deal here for the money, and is a model year newer. Buy it and get the TSBs done, enjoy for 10 years.

For whatever it's worth, I agree with Bob's summary.

While I agree with Bob's analysis, for me the big difference between the two cars is the drive. The Lexis has a much softer ride ride than the RLX. I like to "feel" the road and have a car that I can control. The Lexis is like sitting on your sofa, a comfortable soft ride. It is just a matter of preference what type of driving experience you want.

Looks wise, I'd choose the lexus.

Driving and handling wise, I'd choose the RLX.

Reliability wise, I'd say the lexus will likely be better in the long run. Not to say the RLX will be bad, but lexus has a stellar reputation that is hard to beat.

Resale value wise, I want to lean towards the lexus being better. I think the RLX is more of a niche market vehicle. Again, not bad, but not nearly as popular.

Features wise, I'd say the RLX wins.
