Question More than normal # of problems for this release?

I am on the fence on purchasing a new A-spec SH-AWD now/soon...or wait until maybe next year. I haven’t been able to find anything indicating problems/bugs numbers or severity that is wide spread. The transmission jumpiness mentioned in mostly comfort mode for some users is the main one I see here.

i have no problem waiting, and that might lead to Acura potentially offering HUD on models other than Advance. Or giving the Advance better wheels. It’s not a deal breaker for me though.

So many reviews have been awesome. I just don’t know if there are a lot of issues or it’s just a law of averages. They are selling a lot of these 3G, so a small amount of problems is to be expected and would get coverage on forums. How many current owners are extremely happy and have not encountered worrying issues?

Thanks kindly!

I can replicate this on mine but would call it more of a hesitation/uncertainty under very specific conditions. Nothing I would ever consider to be a failure of the vehicle - more of a matter of learning how to drive a high-torque, 10 speed, close ratio transmission

1 for sure. The biggest problem I've had with mine so far is the dead bugs show up too much on the WDP paint (Acura really needs to offer a 'bug brown' for people who do a lot of highway driving. )

Some of the "jumpiness" seems related to the throttle response, which seems a bit aggressive at "tip-in". I guess it's part of Acura's effort to make the vehicle "exciting" and "fun to drive", but on a different forum someone described it as "unrefined" in comparison to MDX, and I can't disagree.

As for bug splatter on WDP, I think of mine as a Jackson Pollock on white canvas.

It definitely is related to throttle input as I can replicate it in 'comfort', 'sport', and 'sport+' but have to use a much lighter foot on the accelerator in the last 2 modes (haven't checked out 'snow' mode yet). My take on it is with very light throttle input the trans shift logic is having difficulty figuring out what the driver is trying to accomplish - thus the hesitation and subsequent abruptness.

I've found that being just a bit more assertive (not implying in any way that you have to drive 'pedal to the metal') in applying the throttle pretty much eliminates the symptoms completely. The reason it's not as apparent in 'sport' and 'sport+' modes is the computer is applying the 'assertiveness' for you whereas that's not the case in 'comfort'.

As to being called 'unrefined' I can't disagree with that either - but I've also never heard the RDX being categorized as refined, pretty much just the opposite. People looking for refined elegance need to be looking at a different vehicle - I understand Cadillac, Lincoln, and others have some offerings that might meet that criteria.

I am happy with mine. I have no issues that I feel require service. The harsh shifting from 2-3 is there under as mentioned driving conditions and seems to be common in many 9-10 speed transmissions, at least those I've driven.

Mine was an early build (delivered June 5) and has been perfect except for the moaning tailgate.
2,800 trouble-free miles (not counting an accident that wasn't the car's fault).

5,500 miles on mine, zero issues. I fixed my moaning tailgate with some dry lubricant in early June and it is still silent.
Great fit and finish, a blast to drive and handles great! Grandboys call it "Grammy's Rocket"!

I only have 250km on mine but no driving issues so far. There is a little bit of turbo lag and the harsh shift from time to time but I'm used to those characteristics from my '07 RDX.

My biggest complaint is with the infotainment system. It does the job but it is buggy as heck. Sometimes Carplay doesn't connect, sometimes my phone isn't recognized, the Acura Nav is a pain (to me without the ability to set the zoom), it freezes randomly. I'm sure the software will get better over time but it definitely feels like it's still in beta.

Overall I think it is a big improvement over the 2nd generation.

New forum user. Hello to all. Initial thoughts: Awesome vehicle so far in my opinion. I can personally deal with waiting on software updates related to the Infotainment System as they aren't crippling to me, although I can definitely see where some are upset after spending thousands of dollars on something that should work from the word go. Brake is a little soft coming from an Audi, but i've gotten used to it. It's totally fine. I'm also coming from a CVT so the automatic transmission is new (again) to me. I wouldn't say the shifts are rough from 1/2/3 on my particular build (SHAWD Tech - build 8/18) but i do notice the shifts. That's going to be obvious on an automatic tranny compared to a CVT...haha. Things on infotainment that don't work correctly are as follows:

1) CarPlay is a mess. Doesn't work correctly. No need to elaborate more at the moment.
2) Swapping channels on steering wheel from left side switch doesn't work 50 percent of the time.
3) Screen flickers from day/night at times.
4) Audio for telephone calls and other settings don't stay saved. The ghost in the machine changes them at times. Got a phone call today. Almost blew my eardrums out

Swapped out original tires to Vredstein Quatrac 5 for the winter. Will be better than the OEM Continentals.

Thanks. Great information available here.

Interior lighting

New user to this forum as well. Could someone confirm that the rear seats interior lighting is suppose to light up when the button is pressed? I am asking because my rdx does not do this and was wondering if I should bring the vehicle in for inspection.

Also, there is a small light next to the button that seems to stay on all the time. Is it suppose to be this way because I would find it annoying if I was sitting in the back.

Try setting the indoor lights to turn on when the door opens. To do this, find the switch on the panel above the rear view mirror, it is on the right hand side.

The small lights are Acura's new interpretation of Ambient Lighting. My initial reaction was that I didn't get the lighting, which is a feature of the Advance. I don't think many passengers will consider it annoying since it provides minimal illumination. I was just expecting more indirect, brighter lighting for normally very dark areas.
