Headlights aim too high

Noticed an issue with the low beams on my 2019 RDX. Although the headlights are nice and bright, they aim way too high. At night, cross traffic would high beam me as if I had my high beams on. Got sick of this and took it into the Acura dealer. They said they brought it back to spec. Still kept having the same issue and decided to adjust them myself.

Passenger side is super easy. Driver side is a little trickier since I had to remove the intake tube and loosen another part to get to the screw that adjusts the headlights. 3 turns clockwise made the headlights aim too low. 2 is perfect for me.

Hope this helps others. Anybody else have this issue?

I get flashed all the time too at night. I throw the Highs on back at them and they’ll turn theirs off realizing that it’s not my highs on.. it is definitely annoying though.

I get flashed 2-3 times per week. I've complained to the dealer who claimed they are within spec. I was about to resort to strategically placed electrical tape over the driver's side beam, but if they are that easily adjusted....

Agreed! Waiting for the spring/summer to do a tape-test on the wall. I haven't been flashed, but at stop when cars are passing I can see my headlights hitting people in the front seats hard. When observing other high standing vehicles alongside me - I don't see their headlights creating the same problem.

I need to adjust mine, dealer replaced them a few weeks ago and now they are aiming too low.

Anybody has any instructions?
I couldn’t find anything on the vehicle’s manual

Same issue. I think it's the reflector design ... they're just too brilliant and they irritate people's eyes that are driving towards them. Honestly, I think the low beams are pretty crappy and are aimed way too low. I live in a wooded area without street lights and these low beams are probably the worst lights I've had on a car as far as overall illumination. The area that is illuminated is very bright, but not much outside of that. When I'm driving in my beater, I do notice that RDXs and MDXs are friggin annoyingly bright. They're not the only ones, but they're definitely one of the top "offenders".

I love the visibility from these headlights, but I see why oncoming traffic does not. The trend of using excessively bright headlights is one reason many people are probably upgrading to SUVs. 6 years ago when I still had a sedan, I despised being blinded by oncoming traffic or SUVs behind me.

The lights are very bright and light up the road very well. But cars also flash at me thinking these are brights, so I flick it real quick to show them the full power kidding aside, there was one time that definitely made me think that these lights are waaaay too bright - I was behind a cop on a nice summer evening and then he suddenly brake checks me, almost indicating that I was too close to him and was blinding him through the rear view mirror.

Just drive around in a sedan with a RDX behind ya... shit is annoyingly bright. Every dimple in the road appears like the headlights are flashing you.

I don't want to say I don't care about oncoming drivers, but...I really like the headlights on the RDX. I can't remember being flashed in the two years I have owned it...so I am thinking mine are adjusted properly, and they certainly seem to be from behind the steering wheel.

Our '20 CR-V Touring seems to have the same or very similar headlights.

nice feedback folks. The lights being too bright wasn't the issue for me. They were just aimed way too high. I got sick of oncoming traffic flashing their highbeams at me.

Compared to other midsize SUVs I've driven, my RDX headlights were way higher so I adjusted them. No issues now. I still have enough visibility at night and nobody blinding me with their highbeams! If I ever need extra visibility I can always turn on my highbeams

How did you adjust them? I am constantly being flashed or worse... long horn blasts, expletives and middle fingers. Dealership states the headlights are in spec, but the biggest issue is that they are not self-leveling and no rheostat like option.

IMO, they're actually aimed too low. They light up as much if not less than my lowered GTO. The high beams on my GTO blow the RDX's out of the water too ... and it's a 2005 vehicle. The problem is the lights are stupid bright, and they're irritating to cross traffic. My dad even scolded me once when I was coming by thinking I had my high beams on.

'21 advance. Mine were definitely blinding others and got flashed several times in a day. Asked the dealer to take a look and they said that it was a lot higher than specs. They adjusted it and haven't been flashed at ever since (~ a year now)

There are adjustment bolts accessible inside the engine compartment located near the center of each headlight assembly. Start with the one on the passenger side (US), as it's the easiest to access - see attached photo. The other one is in the equivalent location on the other side, you may need to move some items out of the way to access depending on what tools you have.

There are 2 adjustment bolts, one was indicated in the picture and another one is on the top and is covered with a plastic cover. Which one is for adjusting high beam? My low beam seems to aim right but the high beam is a bit too high. thanks
