Fuel gauge system problem

My 2019 Acura RDX Advance just came up with an error, Fuel gauge system problem. Level not accurate. See your dealer.

‘So now I have no fuel level at all.

I searched the forum and didn’t see this mentioned anywhere before. We are on vacation in rural New Hampshire with no dealer with 90 minutes, any way to try and reset?

if you can’t get this thing reset, plan B would be to fill tank fully and reset trip odometer. You should have a pretty good idea of your miles per tank you get based on your driving style. Use the trip odometer as your fuel gauge until you are confident in the actual gauge.

Thanks, exactly what I am doing in the interim. Hoping for some easy reset.

Wondering what the resolution to this was. I have a 2024 RDX, 3 months old, 2k miles, and got this error. It was followed by a Emissions System error. Stayed on for a day through 3 trips, including a fill up. Next day, it went away, but I still took it to the dealer. They cleared the code and didn't find anything else wrong. Theorized it may just need a software update, but didn't do it since it wasn't coming back. A week later, the error hasn't reappeared.

Weird thing is, I had the Emissions system error for one short trip when it was brand new, and it went away after restarting the car.

Speculative on my part, but don't overfill the tank. As a minimum, that can cause emission errors; not sure if can cause "level" indicator issues.

The error flashed when tank was low on gas, like 70 miles left. She filled it up and drove home from work and error stayed. We never "top off", always stop when the pump stops.

That "cap less" gas lid i fear may be an issue. doesn't exactly seem air tight when the flaps pop closed. When my wife got home w/ the error, i opened the lid and pushed the flaps down a few times. That's when upon restarting the error went away and hasn't come back (and still hasn't). If that actually did something, it'd be interesting to say the least.

Your behavior with the gas flap is interesting. I say that because I’ve inadvertently not closed the lid and my 22 RDX has not ever thrown an error code.

welp... my error came back. Right when the gas tank was at around the same level - 70 miles left to the tank. Filled it up, and a couple drives later it disappeared. Going to need to take it to the dealer again and time it so that the gas tank is around 1/4 full so they can better diagnose it.

It is possible that the remedial work you might need will be covered by warranty. Make yourself familiar with the site at Emissions warranty. I would print out the results after inputting your state of residence and be armed with the coverage details when you visit the dealer.

so my fuel tank and emmissions errors stopped coming back after my last post, but i still took it to the dealer. Took a while to get an appt where i could get a loaner so I just had it in last week. They said that they checked their internal tech forums, and other customers had the same issue, and they resolved it by replacing the fuel sender, which has a the fuel level sensor on it. So they replaced mine. We'll see if it comes back or not.
