I had my state inspection done this morning at my dealership and asked about it and was told there was a fix that was released earlier this week. They will have to order the replacement front rotors and I have it scheduled right after Labor Day.

Well after almost a year with the upgraded pads I installed that did eliminate the noise.....it’s back. It’s only started to creep into the 50’s here at night but on the morning when I leave for work at 5am I am letting the whole community hear the song of my brakes. It’s beyond embarrassing. Not sure what route to take, my service manager is awesome and a car guy himself so I’m sure he’ll take care of me just not sure what he’ll be allowed to do. I’ll keep you guys updated.

Is the rotor replacement in conjunction with the squeaky brakes or separate? Do your brakes wobble under load? Do you have a picture of your service statement for the aforementioned replacements?

I have a growl/grinding, possible a little squeaking and it just seems to come from the left rear only. It starts under mild application of brake, goes away when I brake harder but it worse when making a left turn. It almost sounds like when you the pads down metal to metal. I haven't taken it in yet but it has been helpful to read this thread.

Squealing brakes fix...

I had the squealing brakes on my 2019 Adv RDX. The pads and rotors were replaced twice but that only fixed it for about 1500 miles. Dealer said they all do that and Acura knows of the problem and might have a fix by the end of the year. I called Acura customer care and was told the same thing. I explained that this is unacceptable and spoke with a supervisor. He said he would get back with me in a couple of weeks. He did call me and said they have a fix. It is the rotors causing the problem. Acura was coating the rotors with something to prevent corrosion and this coating caused the squealing. He called my dealer and authorized a pull ahead order to get the new rotors and put them on my vehicle. There is a service bulletin being written/issued to address this. So far the brakes are nice and quiet. I would contact your dealer, tell them about this, and see if they can order the new rotors.

I had mine replaced two weeks ago and it made it worst. Before it would only squeal when it cold out, now it'll squeal no matter if it’s cold or warm out during the first drive.

Did they put on the "new" rotors without the coating? It is my understanding these have only become available in the past week or so.

Do you have any documentation that confirms what you stated? I have spoken with Acura Customer Care and they continue to deny there is any issue with the rotors, but do admit there is an issue with the pads. I am convinced it is the rotors as my car squeals under light load and physically wobbles as if the rotors are warped under high load. The dealer has inspected the rotors and confirmed they are not warped, which has me scratching my head!

They should have coated the pads.

The service advisor stated it was the rotors and not the pads. I have had the pads replaced twice and no improvement. The rotors they put on this time have the part number 45251-TJB-A02. They also put on new rear pads as part of the service bulletin. So far, so good.

My sympathy!
I too was was blown off until a service tech took pity and had my front pads replaced. There is still some noise but much less.
is it possible the rear brake pad need replacing too?
So frustrating

Car is in for a b16 service. Mentioned the brake squeal and the service advisor mentioned they already have replacement pads for the RDX. Nothing about rotor replacement. I guess I'll find out this afternoon

This is great news!!! Thanks for the update!

Hoping you drop something about a bulletin for the infotainment system/CarPlay soon!

Fortunately, not a problem that I have had so far. I did have some rare instances of squealing, but that was many months ago.

Hello John72:. I have a 2020 with same brake squeling problem. Can you update your post as to whether the new rotors fixed the issue for good?

I have mine at the dealer right now for the warranty brake issue. Hopefully it will fix the annoying squealing. Will update when done.

I have had the new rotors on for 6 weeks and about 1200 miles and so far no squeaks or noise. The previous rotors and pads lasted about 2 weeks. Hope this helps.

Mine is at the dealership now and I just confirmed they are installing the front rotor part number you quoted. As it is a 2020, I would think that new rotor was already on the car but failed to ask that question. It is actually my daughter's new car and she is very disappointed. If this fails to work, I will probably turn to aftermarket ceramic pads although it appears that is only a temporary fix.

Your previous post says that you called them to have the rotors replaced on September 30. The updated bulletin with new parts is dated Oct 29... I don't think you got the actual parts. I think you just got replacements of the old faulty squeaky parts. You should go back and get the new parts with the service bulletin in hand.

I've had the squeeling front brake problem for 4-5 weeks now. Brought it in for them to check that (and also dead motor for the sunroof) and they just said they are aware of the brake issues but won't get parts for 1-2 months

Crazy how a brand new car with less than 5,000km within 6 months would have this issue.

TSB 19-053 - Front and/or Rear Brakes Squeal When Applied at Low Speeds was revised. Under AFFECTED VEHICLES, 2020 RDX has been added.

Update, I took my rdx in on Nov 5th and they replaced the front brakes and roters under the tsb. It is better. Not 100% but doesn't squeal as loud as it did in cold weather. But still a slight squeal when going slow and lightly pressing brake.

The 2020 RDX has been temporarily removed, and will be included in a later revision.

At what point would they refuse to replace the pads because they will say like "user wear" vs an issue with the original brake system they put in?

I am getting this squeal and it is particularly bad because colder weather up here now. I am wondering if I should wait a few months just to make sure everything is working fine for others, etc.

I had the same thought! Could be a "free" brake replacement if you waited long enough...

Just got my A-Spec back today and they replaced front and rear rotors and pads under the TSB. No more squealing finally. They also replaced my main harness for the front parking sensors randomly going off. Yea!!!

It's interesting that some have a squealing brake problem, and some don't at all (like me). I wonder what the difference form one car to the other could be that this was a big enough of a problem to create a TSB...for some.

Three week wait for parts

My 19 RDX Tech has been in the shop for a week now to fix the brake noise. They JUST called me today to tell me that the parts are back ordered until 12/1. I’ll have a loaner until then. Unbelievable.

Took my car in for the brake TSB and it only took them 1 day to get the parts and got the car back the next day after dropping it off.

My wife and I just purchased a used (9,800 miles) 2019 Tech RDX last week. This morning she said the brakes were squealing pretty loudly. Granted, we spent the night somewhere, so it was the first time the car sat outside overnight instead of in our garage - the car had some frost buildup on the exterior, so I'm hoping the squealing is simply due to condensation and will not occur when it's parked in the garage overnight.

Just to be clear - the squealing everyone here has been experiencing hasn't been indicative of any major brake issues, correct? The squeal is annoying, yes, but it doesn't bother me TOO much so long as it's not indicative of anything more than an annoying sound.

Also, for those of you who had dealerships replace pads/rotors - did they charge you anything?

No, its not a safety issue.
There is a TSB to replace pads and rotors to fix the noise, get it done while under warranty

I normally crank up the music while driving so didn't notice the squealing. Noticed it yesterday on my 2020 Tech as I was slowly pulling out of the parking ramp. Seems like it's a widespread issue. Acura should issue a recall . Going to take it to the dealership to have it fixed/replaced.

I'm not sure why my '19 Advance has never made any brake squealing noise. Guess I should complain to the dealer that I am missing something.
