the accord MAF is smaller than the rdx-
And the open filter is to Inhale nothing but hot air from the radiator
it would be cool to make a mold, like making a custom sub enclosure, as an air box. Then use fiberglass etc to fit the filter and open up to front air.
Just installed a Vibrant 3” silicone coupler to replace the oem rubber accordion tube. Too soon to tell if there is any improvement on response and what not. Fingers crossed this doesn’t throw a code lol.
This seems counter productive at best since its a heat magnet.
If you want a little sound get the PRL Intake tube with the green filter and remove the small resonator that sits just in front of the ECU, and if you really want it loud you can remove the front one as well.
I personally found the front one to be too much so I put it back and removed the smaller one only, right now its cool so IAT's are pretty lax but in TX summer I would expect to see a slight bump in IAT vs w/ the resonator installed.

To me it looked like you could modify the accord box and relocate the mounting points, only thing would be to make some scoops to help direct the air like stock.
At the end of the day vehicles with FBO see very little with these HVI so is it really worth the hassle considering a few HP gain.
So I whipped this together last weekend and have been testing it and all In all there is no power gain- But the whine of the turbo is almost obnoxious- so whiteonred you would really like this setup !
kn air filter adapter
And an HPS silicone reducer that goes from the filter adapter to the MAF (3.5 to 3.25)
the MAF HAS TO BE the same diameter as the stock one or you will need to tune the ecu-I cut the stock one out of the air box and used that-
i have the type r titanium inlet tube so the PRL hose that goes on it is a perfect fit to the stock MAF (3.25)
the cold air duct is some 6 inch ducting that draws air from the battery cooling fan grille above the foglite and blows it on the air filter

Damn that thing is massive!! Love the way it looks, sweet install. How has it been running thus far?
Ridiculous…………that’s everyone wants, needs and desires.
seriously it sounds like a 747 prepping for takeoff
i pass people under boost and they look at me like wtf is that whistling noise!
I’ll try to take a quick video

if you can grab a video or two, that would be awesome honestly haha.
I finished off the intake with a PRL tube. I think it looks pretty good. Sound hasn’t changed from before but this more an aesthetic change than anything. Next is to make so sort of heat shielding.

@Rob5150 which silicone tube is that? The accord or the Type R?
Are these the resonator pieces you all were referencing when talking about removing resonators? Did anyone put a cone filler or anything over the round inlet in the lower factory airbox or just let the green filter do the “dirty work”?

outlet on the air box does not need a filter-
removing this resonator box will increase the air intake noise a bit but will also suck in hotter under hood air so don’t look for a performance increase
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to join the club of 3G RDX owners with a cold air intake. From the advice everyone spoke about on this thread, here is what I whipped up.
I ordered a second air box in case I have to revert to the old one, but this is what I had prior, something very similar to the first example in this thread.
I had these K&N cones laying around from an old intake that didn’t fit my 335i, but I ordered a 3D printed intake adapter for a Honda Accord 2.0T. But as everyone saw, due to the size difference, it makes the sensor big mad! My car drove like absolute garbage, engine wouldn’t run right, transmission wouldn’t shift right, I just had to remove it and revert to the stock intake.
But after I saw how to cut the intake up, I figured, why not just leave the pieces on the end to give it a little support, so that’s the only change I made to the design originally posted. I’m really happy with the results, the car sound amazing and I’ll post a video later, but damn, this puppy screams!!! Plus it looks pretty cool. All in all, thank you everyone who contributed to this thread there’s a host of knowledge and I’m super appreciative of all the info you all shared!
