Putting parking brake into service mode

Does anyone know the procedure for putting the EPB into service mode? Trying to change the rear pads soon and I know it’s not a good practice to compress the pistons without the EPB in service mode.

thanks

Want to bump this one, was looking for this info and can’t find anything specific to the 3g RDX. Is there a procedure or a scan tool is needed?

I used the Foxwell NT510. Super simple process and guarantees it’s done correctly.

This is a 2018 Accord, but the procedure is likely the same.

Thank you all for the replies this is really helpful! i’ve done brakes for a long time but first time on a car with an electronic brake system.

Might be a good reason to finally get a scan tool. i have relied on a little ELM327 just to read codes.

I recently did the rear brakes on my wife’s 2017 Civic with the electronic parking brake. I had found a video online that showed how to take the motor off the back of the caliper and how to spin the elec. motor back in. This was done in addition to spinning the rear piston in with a typical brake tool. I’m assuming on our RDXs need the same procedure. I’m hoping so cause I need to do the rear brakes on my ASpec soon, I got the squeaks and the seat shimmy..

You don't need any special rewind tool. The the YouTube video posted by TimmyB83 in Dec 23 shows very clearly all you need. It's very straightforward.

Just did brakes on the Rdx.
5mm hex takes off the 2 bolts holding the ebrake housing off and 9mm socket clockwise/tight to wind the motor back in.

then you can just push in the piston

Did you have to replace the rubber seal of the housing?
