it’s really designed for rural roads, not city or busy highways where you shouldn’t be using your high beams anyways. Heck I get flashed sometimes with my low beams in this car

I could see them being used there, especially if there isn’t a lot of traffic. I do wish there was a way to disable them without turning on your high beams, I have been behind someone before and had to flash them to disable them

They’re kind of annoying to me. It shouldn’t put the high beams on in the neighborhood with street lights every 50 feet...my other vehicle seems “smarter” or at least more sensitive with their use. I still keep them active mostly.

Straight, flat roads aren't really a thing here, and unfortunately the auto high beams get antsy sometimes when the road is undulating and there are other cars about. And other times they don't activate at all, even if they should.
I'm gonna say this feature's performance is lackluster.

I have a situation where the exit from my subdivision is a 'T' intersection with nothing directly in front of the car. As I'm coming out the auto high beams will come on and then, once I complete the turn, quickly go back to low beams because of oncoming traffic. Not a failure just an environmental condition beyond the capability of the system to handle. It never fails to switch back to low beam but to an outside observer it may look like I'm flashing my high beams.

As I understand it if you turn your lights on manual from Auto disables the auto high beams. I think its a great safety feature. I used to fuss at my wife for not using her high beams (and fog lights) when she drove on rural roads in her CRV. They will obviously go on and off in urban areas. I guess I'll try and find a silver SUV to test the sensitivity. Commons for someone with fog lights on whether they help much. I find the regular lights give excellent side illumination.

Also, a quick pullback flash disables it for that driving session, and another one re-enables it, IIRC.

I’m having the issue with them where I’m driving behind a car and it flashes them here and there. The last thing I want to do is piss off the dude in front of me and have them slam on the brakes or try to do something crazy because they think I’m trying to continuously flash them

Will be deactivating. I'm not in a rural area and the constant on/off is annoying. And yes, I also get flashed on low beam. My Advance has a high cutoff and I can tell when I'm blinding oncoming cars. I don't know what's up with that.

Personally think these are a horrible design vs other manufactures.
In western PA, where roads are curved, they have a tendency to blind others before shutting off. There is a couple second delay with them shutting off vs other cars I've owned (jeep and audi)
2nd...and the worse part of this, is the double flick high to turn on/off. Should just have it as a setting in the MMI and turn on with typical high beams so you can override the off and not flash others while trying to disengage. I have yet to have this go o e favorable...and typically get a flash back thinking I'm being a douche.
I turn them off...

To be fair, I too have been dazzled by newer cars so i guess having brighter lights is just better for those behind them.

It's been a year since I posted to this thread, saying I use the Auto High Beams. Nothing has changed in this regard, I always use them with great results. I would really miss them if I bought a car without this feature now.
