CarPlay IPhone XR owners

Hi all. I have been enjoying my 2029 RDX tech package since last October. One of my favorite features in this car is CarPlay. I have an iPhone 7 running the latest IOS (12.1.4). CarPlay runs great and I use Google Maps/Waze/Pandora daily without issue. I am contemplating upgrading my phone to an XR but am afraid it might not run as smoothly with CarPlay as my older iPhone 7. Can anyone that uses an XR regularly with CarPlay in the 19 RDX chime in? Thanks.

Hmm I have an iPhone XR and it disconnects from CarPlay frequently. My previous iPhone 6s also didn't work very well with CarPlay though.

What's annoying is that if I'm using Google Maps on CarPlay, I can't use any other apps on the iPhone (if I try, the car exits out of Gmaps as well). Is this a CarPlay thing in general, or for CarPlay for RDX?

This is a general CarPlay thing.
