What is the towing capacity going to be for the 2019 RDX!

 

I'd like to know this too!

 

I'm hoping for 2k+. New Volvo XC40 is 3500lbs.

The user manual posted (see other forum posting) and it looks like the max towing weight is 1500lbs.

I think I have not seen more than 2 RDX in my life towing something. I don't think a RDX is built to tow. I completely understand people need to tow certain things but it won't impact the sale of RDX I can assure you. The population of people that need a RDX to tow is probably insignificant for Acura brand.

Don’t. You night be able to tow a little more than 1500 lbs and get away with it but from what I’ve read there would be significant risk of damaging the frame. The part of the frame that the trailer hitch attaches too looks to be pretty thin and just can’t bear the load of more than 1500 lbs. Keep in mind it’s not just how the engine pulls the weight but how the frame handles the weight, especially the tongue weight. Load it too much and you risk having the bolts pull out and losing the trailer at high speed - very dangerous.

TLDR: Mfr limits are not arbitrary. Always follow them.

Agree...Look at the RDX as a slightly raised sedan/hatchback in regards to towing. It is NOT an SUV.

 

AFAIK, Acura doesn't even sell a full towing package with coolers for the transmission and power steering. Only a hitch mount with the wiring harness.

I would limit towing to small utility trailers like jet skis and U-Hauls. And only short distances. Not long, over-the-road trips.
