Is water leaking under the car normal?

Seeing water puddling under the car every time i park - it is 3/4 towards to the front of the car, and located in the middle laterally. Is this just an AC thing, would i need to get it checked out? Car almost two years old

I’d think it was just an ac thing, but to ease your mind, you could have your dealer look at it.

The kneejerk -- and most likely -- answer is normal condensate coming from the a/c evaporator. If so, you should only see this if the a/c was in use prior to parking. The liquid should be clear like water (condensate is humidity converted to liquid water). I wouldn't be concerned unless this is new in either location or quantity.

Yes, if you're using your A/C, it's 99% this. If its a puddle when it's been sitting all night though, check to make sure it's not oil or it doesn't have an odor to it (coolant).

Freaked me out too. I see it on my garage floor and it felt and looked like water.

During humid weather a/c’s condense out quite a bit of water.

Touch it with your fingers. If it is water, it is fine. If not, then no, not fine.

Every car I've ever owned did it. My '71 Chevy Nova stopped doing it when the compressor clutch seized and the belt melted around the drive pulley.

OP, if it makes you feel any better. I see water puddles under my car as well after AC use...so most likely AC condensation

Neither my '69 or my '71 Novas has A/C...Both were 2 door straight 6 cyl, with 3 speed shifter on the column...manual steering...basically strippers, except the '69 had an upgraded exterior package, with chrome trim around the windows and "tinted" glass. Had the most uncomfortable bench seats ever. A/C was often needed in Southern Cal at that time, mostly because of the smog. But I went from LA down to San Diego for college so it wasn't bad there. SD probably has the best weather in the US.

My wife's '87 Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S didn't have A/C. Which was fine in Boston, but really sucked when we moved to Chicago. No power windows, either. She literally got carpal tunnel syndrome from rolling down the window for toll plazas.

The name of that car was longer than the car. Fun little hot hatch with the same engine as my '85 MR-2. It made an amazing 112 hp, and it sang like an Italian soprano when you were rowing the 5-speed manual.

But don't expect to see water under your car in AZ, even if the car has A/C. There's no water in the air to condense!

So I've always heard. I was only there once, for a week on business at Miramar NAS.

It rained every day.

I’ve only been to South Dakota in the summer time. It was good, but I hear the winters are hard.

Believe JB meant San Diego when he abbreviated to SD. I've never been to South Dakota, but have spend probably close to 6 months in San Diego one week at a time for work. Weather there is phenomenal. It's funny to see the locals putting on sweaters and coats when the tempe drop into the 50s.......

Whatever the weather, we'll weather the weather, whether we like it or not.

Having said that, San Diego weather may be easier to weather than South Dakota weather. And North Dakota weather or Montana weather are downright "character building", especially in winter.

It's so dry here that ...and this is true...when we go away for a week (remember when we could do that?) the water in the toilet bowl evaporates. TRUE!

I think that that is what your dog is trying to sell to you.

I sweat fairly easily, so when we are in the SouthWest, the dry heat doesn’t bother me much. I kind of like it. My wife does not sweat, errr, perspire as easily as I do. So when I say “but it is a dry heat”, she says, “so is an oven.”

Ever try Saran Wrap?

The only reason I thought of that is because I knew someone who would play that as a practical joke on his female acquaintances. I said to him, "Just guessing, but you don't get laid much, do you."

Funny!...but...Yep! Saran Wrap is what we use when we travel. My neighbor winters here and summers in Alaska... He seals all his toilets with the stuff, and once a month or so, I go in, pull up the wrap, and flush the toilets, run the faucets, etc.
We do get some humidity, usually in July-August (Monsoon Season) then we all complain when the humidity gets to 45-50%..and we get water dripping on the garage floor from the car's A/C.

This is related to leaving the toilet seat up at night, so your female acquaintance ( eg soon-to-be-ex-wife ) can splash down into the pond with her bare bottom.

This may be survivable if you DON'T LAUGH! Not even a snicker. Best to snore very loudly and curl up into a defensive position.

There is no position defensive enough for me. Snoring? No way to fake that during the verbal and physical violence that would occur.

PUT THE SEAT DOWN. It's been 31 years of marriage; my muscle memory learned that just about 31 years ago.

Oh, btw, the water under the car is from condensation.

LOL. In reality, after a series of unfortunate events many years ago I came to the conclusion that the only foolproof way to prevent a lapse was to sit down at night. Always. Maybe a few years before you got married. ( 35 years last month for me, with the same woman ). But congratulations on your survival skills, nonetheless.

OTOH potty training two kids and 4 dogs over the years... that was hard.

And I could tell some great stories about my sleepwalking younger brother and his urinary adventures, but maybe another time. My potty humor is beginning to overflow.

44 years next month for me, same woman. Either I am doing things right, or she is a very forgiving woman...most likely the latter...

"Verbal and physical violence" ??? NO, I just get the silent treatment, much more emotionally draining.

I just always sit down in the bathrooms at home. Easier that way and less to remember. Too, I don’t have to touch the seat with my hand.

Put the seat AND THE LID DOWN!! That's why there's a lid. WTF did you think the lid is for? It's so you don't drop something in there, like your cell phone, toothbrush, electric razor, her loofah sponge (because you're a dude and you're not supposed to be using it anyway), etc.

Oh sure, they're fine with you just leaving the seat down. Turn it back on her and give her hell for leaving the lid up.

If my wife leaves the seat down and the lid up, she'll probably have to wipe it down the next time she goes to use it. She learned.

This thread sure went down the shitter in a hurry. Glad I could help.
