Unlocking passenger door?

Ok, I admit this is probably a dumb question but humility is a virtue, so here goes. :-)

I can’t figure out how to open the passenger door when I unlock the driver’s door using the sensor on the driver’s handle. The simple scenario is my wife and I walk out to the car. I unlock/open the driver’s door with the door handle but the passenger door does not unlock. I tried using the back door handle on the drivers side but that does not open the passenger door either. So, I unlock my door from the outside and then use the inside lock button to unlock the passenger door for my wife. How can I get both the driver’s door AND passenger door to unlock at the same time without using the remote? What am I missing?

Unlocking both doors is one of the system settings. As an aside, touching the back door on my RDX unlocks both sides. Of course, you’re supposed to go around and open the door for your wife!

Thanks—and your right about opening the door for my wife. Is that still permissible in today’s culture? :-)

For the wife? That is between you and her. I open the door for my wife. I also hold the door open for a person behind me, regardless of gender. When possible, I open the door for a woman. None of them have ever given me the stink-eye for doing that.

That’s how my mother raised me.

Thanks but just for the record, my comments was "tongue in cheek." :-)

When I touch the driver's door handle, only the driver's door unlocks. When I touch any other door handle, they all unlock. If there's a system setting for it, I've never changed it.

Yeah, there's a setting in the infotainment system to have all doors unlock all the time instead of the driver's door first. I have that option selected, and no matter which door I touch when walking up, all of the doors unlock. Maybe that's your solution. Or maybe if you touch the driver's door twice it will unlock all doors like the default setting on most remotes (?).

Unless you have a base model, only the front doors will open when you approach handle.
