Unlocking ONLY the driver's door and Gas Door

I have searched and searched (manual and googled) to see if there's a way to unlock only the driver's door and gas tank door. When getting gas at night (or even in the daytime) I don't want all doors unlocked when I park at a gas station.

Is there not a way to do this?

Thanks,

MP

Open your door,, get out, open the gas door, then hit the 3 lines on the top of the driver's door handle which will lock the car if you have the FOB in hand or pocket, or push the LOCK button on your FOB.

Thanks. I was hoping for something similar like my previous car (TL 2013). Of course that car had a gas tank door release inside the car.

???? My rear door handles also lock all of the doors, no need to touch the front one on my car. (RDX Advance)

You are correct. I was thinking of our CR-V!

The door unlocking protocol is terrible in the RDX. What I find highly annoying is that if the vehicle is locked with someone in the driver's seat and the engine running, the door will not unlock for the passenger to get in even if he/she is holding the key fob. That just might be the most stupid thing about the RDX. I wish there was a way around this because it's just annoying any time a vehicle will not let you in when you have the key in your possession. My other vehicles always allow access to the key holder, no matter the scenario.

Slight tangent; how does one unlock the gas tank without opening the door? I mostly pump my own gas but on NJ turnpike I stopped for gas and it was full-service and I had to open the driver door to get the gas door to open...

The gas tank unlocks if you hit the "unlock" button to unlock all doors. That's actually how you have to do it anyways, so I'm confused as to what you've been doing. Simply opening the driver's door from the inside doesn't unlock the gas tank.

Well now I feel like an idiot.

I’ve actually never unlocked the doors to open the gas door. I just get out and it’s already unlocked. Doors unlock automatically when I get out?

It does for me. (Clarification: My doors are not locked while driving) At a gas pump, with engine off, I open my driver's door, get out, and tap the gas door, ....it opens.
SO, it would seem that "Simply opening the driver's door from the inside doesn't unlock the gas tank." is only applical if one's door are locked when they arrive at the gas pump.

The owner's manual assumes that everyone drives with the doors locked.

I had new CR-V a few weeks ago and when I wanted to let my passenger in it open the back door I had to unlock the drivers door, open it, then hit unlock on the inside button to unlock the rest of the doors. This can be changed in settings right? Just curious because it was probably the most annoying flaw that car had.

I was looking at the Driver's Manual and "locking/unlocking doors" goes from page 146 to page 162, so ...

There is a setting where you can use the touch of the drivrer's door handle that will unlock all four doors, or using the FOB, it can be configured the same. Touching the unlock button on the FOB a second time might also unlock all the doors. I have our cars set to unlock all doors with one touch. I think it defaults to only unlocking the driver's door so it limits the threat of someone jumping in and attacking a driver, when all doors unlock. Many of the settings available on the RDX are also on the CR-V. We are very happy with both our new cars!
It would be nice if the RDX got the mpg of the CR-V while retaining the go power! LOL My wife s averaging over 36 mpg on the commute in the 20 CR-V.

The CR-V really surprised me. Decent Midrage torque and average 28 mpg with my lead foot. Not to mention handling and steering were really great for what is basically a grandma SUV. Very close to my 7G Accord in that department.

As soon as you get to 2,000 RPM it is surprisingly quick. Not as quick as the RDX, however!

For sure. No cool turbo sounds sadly and the engine sounded kinda grainy and hallow. The CVT wasn't really an issue, surprisingly.

I would love to drive a new Civic, and see how quick that is!

Agree on both. The Civic with the 2.0L T! Whoa! If only I could easily get in and out of the low seats on a daily basis!

There is no way to "only" unlock driver's door & gas door; after shifting to park or shutting down vehicle.

Either open ALL doors or none, See below, this might help.
