I saw a thread elsewhere on this topic and it got my interest with respect to y 2022 RDX SH-AWD (base). I’ve gone in repeatedly and adjusted the setting, one time even shutting the car OFF and then going back in and checking the setting. In my case it isn’t working for some reason. Does anyone know what actually triggers the setting? The reason I ask is I rarely do a “true” fill up. My preference is to pay cash (too many skimmers in our area) so I estimate what it will take and pay that in cash, then do self-serve. This afternoon for instance I paid $20, got around 5 gallons but no reset. The dash gauge barely reads below full. So, again what triggers the setting to reset?

I make use of it at every fill-up, and never had a situation where the reset to zero didn't occur. I can only assume that if you program it to reset on refill, that you need to fill the tank to the top in order to trigger the reset.

Your assumption of credit card skimmers being used is a valid reason for not using a credit card.

If you have a smart phone, install Google or Apple wallet and link the wallet to your existing credit card. When you use the phone to pay for gas, the phone connects to your bank, and is given a temporary number to be used at the pump (not the number on the card) . If anyone skims that number, it doesn't matter because that number will not work a second time.

You can just move to NJ so that when you fill up you are handing your credit card over to a stranger every time! Who needs to worry about skimmers when they can secretly snap a picture!

The actual wording in the manual is “Reset on refuel” which at least in my mind is not the same as a fill-up. But that could just be semantics. Further testing is in the works.

I actually don’t own a smartphone. I do use a bare bones “dumb phone”. I get about 6 to 10 calls a month and probably less than 5 texts a month; all for $6 monthly. Life is good following the old 7-up commercial “Never had it, never will.”

Results of another test. It should be noted my 2022 RDX has been resetting Trip A on several occasions with a fill up. Today I “refueled” about 7 gallons taking it from about a 1/4 tank to about 3/4 tank. No reset occured.

After some refueling operations it does appear as if a fill-up is required to reset the trip indicator.
