Thinking of issues to bring at first visit
So I’m 10 months with my RDX Advance and I’m trying to make a list of all the issues I’m having. I’m hoping you all might be able to help me think of what I’m not thinking of. Here’s what I have so far:
- High-pitched sound when car turns off. More and more frequently
- Apple Car play glitchy no matter what cord is plugged in
- Radio doesn’t function correctly of phone is plugged in
- Control on steering wheel often giving the malfunctioning error or does nothing
- What the different beeps mean (probably not a malfunction, but I’d like to know)
My issues are a really long list, but that's another story...
#1 is a known issue with evaporator valve in the A/C. That they can probably fix. But they get pissed if you try to tell them the diagnosis, so stick to the symptoms.
#2, #3 maybe software, which we are all waiting for, but could be a bad cable between the head unit and the USB port in the vehicle, or something deeper. Diagnostics "might" pick it up.
#4 related to #2 and #3? Does it fail if nothing is connected to the USB port? Which steering wheel control(s) are affected? Document.
#5 get a salesperson to walk you through them. That's not a service issue. Unless it's the self-destruct mechanism.
Most of the beeps are things like seat belt unlatched, hatch or door open, walking away from the car when it's running, power tailgate operation, stuff like that. Search the downloadable Owner's Manual for "beep" and you'll be amazed at what pops up.

I brought mine in for brake squeal and they said its because the rotors are carbon ceramic and needs to warm up and the soft brakeing is how the master cylinder functions.
Wow what a blatant lie. The only Acura to come with carbon ceramic brakes is the NSX. These are $10K options on some other cars; no way Acura would put it on a compact crossover.

Which the heat aspect can also be true, in other words; the pads like high temp high friction stops better than they like light, non-evassive stops... Or in other words; sporty brake pads

A light coat of rust formed, but no worries, a single rotation of braking will clean it off
Allegedly the squeal and/or grinding brake noise is related to an anti-corrosive treatment on the brake rotors of this vehicle: FNC ( Ferric nitrocarburizing ).
It shouldn't reduce brake performance, unless you lift your foot when you hear the noise. So don't do that.

I’ve seen ceramic brake pads, and ferro-carbon brake pads, but i have never seen carbon ceramic brake pads before. Are you sure they exist?

Also, I'm waiting on the link from Brembo, since you said it's on their site. I can only assume you couldn't find it because it doesn't exist.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure "Carbon Fiber Infused Ceramic Brake Pads" from some no name company is not the same compound as $15,000 carbon ceramic discs from a reputable company. You can't just mix CF and ceramic and suddenly have carbon-ceramic.

I'm going in tomorrow to see how it goes. As a reply, #3 has issues even if nothing is connected. Monday the heads up display was showing left turns when I was supposed to turn right and right turns for lefts. Good times.
I've posted this before but want to repeat. At first my brakes sounded like washers being ground up in a meat grinder no matter what the weather conditions were. They got quiet after around 5K miles so I guess I'm lucky.
further points to the compound used in the pads...
