What is interesting, is that this 2021 that I bought, had a VIN that was post 5J8TC2...ML024481, i.e., post the TSB for the infamous “loss of power” and MIL flashing. This was by design, as I was looking for a late model 2021 or 2022, since I was concerned about this potential issue. Reading various posts in the forum about folks who had the issue in their early 2021 or even earlier, who had the TSB performed, which included a software update, noted a better throttle response. So either the 2020 I drove had an issue, or the software update post early 2021 really does help with the throttle response. Potential info for those looking for a used RDX. You may want to look for late VIN 2021 or 2022+…
I got an early 21 build. Zippo lag from the turbo and in sport mode most shifts are crisp - more with a slightly heavier right foot. After a few rental SUV's on trips lately - the RDX is a quiet, nimble, peppy and high quality product (especially the way the interior is buttoned up). Plus it's built like a little tank - very durable in any weather condition. The seats are the best IMO for supportive long distance driving - memory settings make it a breeze to set up two different profiles (even when using one key).

what made you upgrade after just 2 years?

The place I bought my 2021 from was running some aggressive offers to get rid of 2023s to make room for 2024s. I decided to take advantage of it. Having had the 2021 vs 2023, I think the 2023 has some worthwhile improvements so I'm not sorry I took the leap.

Go retest drive it in sport plus and don’t be afraid to use the pedal. I drive it almost exclusively in that mode, makes the car feel light

My 2021 in Sport has noticeably better throttle response than the 2020 I drove (which was also in Sport mode) even without hammering the throttle. Maybe it was that particular 2020 (something wrong or maybe the throttle - is it adaptive? - was recently reset), but it was a significant difference.
