I currently pay for the AT&T hotspot but other than having wifi for everyone in the car, what's the other advantages? For instance, I use the current navigation system in the car and I noticed that it almost always can find a store name even if it just recently opened. So I am thinking it is using the hotspot to update the navigation points of interest. Also, it seems to be up to date with current traffic backups and I wonder if it is using the wifi for current traffic conditions. Does anyone know?

Yes the navi search is cloud enhanced, but the voice recognition is not. But you don't need ATT subscription to have navi be connected.

 

I did the hotspot over the summer when we were doing a lot of car trips and my family needed internet access. I think it was only $10 in addition to my regular ATT plan. But then I upgraded my phone plan to 5G and it includes free hotspot so the $10 seemed like a waste especially since It’s not 5G.
