So I hit a lightpole base and cracked this piece of plastic chrome. I am hoping I can just pop it out and replace as its only a $60 part. But I fear it may require removing the bumper. Anyone have any idea. Its a random little thing so no YT videos or any info from googling. The part appears to have tabs rather than screws, so I am hoping it can be remove from the front. I havne't had a chance to see if accessible from the back.
just my observation, but judging by the picture of the part and the diagram its only held on by clips and should pop off. I would use a plastic pry tool and rag and start on the top pulling toward you. use a second pry tool once its started and work around the front left side of it. i mean even if it breaks should not be an issue lol. you should def be able to do yourself, a shop is gonna either gonna take off the bumper (2 hour job) or charge you a full hour to do a 10 min job if it indeed just pops off.
Check out this guy's YouTube - he does a bunch of RDX repairs and across a few of the 'blue A-Spec' vids, he removes/dis-assembles/re-installs the front bumper, the trim pieces, etc. I've found them very informative and pretty fun to watch -
Also, if you are a FaceBook user, search for this guy "Menn Boun" - he did a front bumper removal to install a lip on his blue RDX and went thru that trim removal (and it was tough). I think there are two hidden clips that make 'easy and intact' removal nearly impossible - but it yours is broken already, it might not be too bad. Installing a new one looks easy enough, though.
