Like I said, the computer is pretty close. My RDX shows 25.1 over the last 6000 miles. About half expressway and rest what I would call suburban. I’ve calculated by hand a few times and always came out about .5 less than the computer. Still good imo on 89 octane always over 6 years.

What about idling time? It's included in your calculation but it shouldn't if the goal is to determine the car's fuel efficiency. Maybe the computer doesn't include it in it's calculation and for this reason is more accurate.

idle time, rapid acceleration, speed are all part of the equation. The computer measures the amount of miles driven divided by the amount of gas used, simple as that. Real world use. It is what it is.
