I appreciate everyone being willing to share their experiences as it's very helpful to people who are out shopping. As a point of simplification and enhancement, it's completely irrelevant to post OTD pricing in a forum like this were there are going to be soooo many different tax and registration costs. It would be most helpful for everyone to post their negotiated prices BEFORE taxes/fees, or at the very least before taxes, and then whether that price was for a purchase/finance transaction or a lease transaction as the dealers will often have different price offerings based on the financial support from Acura at the time. The pre-tax negotiated purchase price is going to be the only thing that most of us have in common and will go a long way to helping us avoid a whole bunch of unnecessary confusion and excess information.

2019 Base for $500 off MSRP
Went through USAA Car Buying Service (TrueCar) for my 2019 Base FWD RDX last month. Since we only have one Acura dealer here in San Antonio, they don't deal much. The two dealers in Austin didn't have any base models in stock. MSRP was $38,695 including the +$400 for the Performance Red paint. Gunn is a "one price for all" dealer and had it listed for $38,195 on their website tagged on the car. They also give you an accessory allowance of $500-$600 (don't recall exactly), which i used to tint the front windows, get all weather floor mats and the cargo cover. Wish I could've saved more....but overall happy with my purchase and service at dealer.. Originally had been pricing Honda CR-Vs. The CR-V AWD Touring models were over $35K...just made since to get the much nicer Acura from only a few thousand more.

Truth is I'm finding it impossible to get a decent price in my area. If I mention the pricing that some of you have gotten they say "Show us an actual quote signed by a manager and we'll try to match it." But of course I can't do that. I'm not sure what to do, I refuse to pay the higher price when I know the price could be so much lower... I'm stuck.

Want to make an offer
Good afternoon everyone! I live in Ontario and I am interested in the Platinum Elite however there is not a lot of quotes posted on here. Can anyone who purchased from Ontario please post the on the road prices, also any regrets buying the 1st year model? I am in love with this model after test driving it and it was number 14 of the cars I drove so pretty impressed by it. Thank you!

In my case I was only able to get OTD prices from a couple of dealers. When I asked for a breakdown they said it should be the only number that matters.

state your location and occupation. Type up the letter and sign it like a formal letter. And here comes the best part... Fax it. Yes. Fax it. No emails.
You might find that the dealership further away from you will give you a deal since they got nothing to loose. They are not competing locally and will take a deal that they wouldn't otherwise get anyways.
Try your luck that way. You got nothing to lose. Obviously the timing matters, end of month might score your a dealer needing to meet his bonus quota or wait til July when the business is slow

I would suggest you write to as many dealerships as you are willing to drive to. State that you are ready to buy now and will purchase from a dealership that has best price and you don't mind driving far to pick up.

Working on the following deal for a '19 RDX FWD w/ TECH Package:
$36,999 for the RDX (MSRP is $40600) (+tax, destination, dealer fee)
Includes maintenance for 5 years (oil change, tire rotation, cabin filter)
What do you guys think? $3,600 off MSRP on the car, plus about $1,000 value on the maintenance (I drive about 17,000 mi/yr).

It actually is...
85,000 miles over 5 years (17,000/yr) = 13 oil changes/tire rotations (one every 6500 miles)
13 X $60 ($30 oil change, $30 rotation) = $780
cabin filter $40 X 5 (1 per year) = $200.
$980 total (not including tax + shop fees).

2. Cabin filter is a easy DIY and filter cost $20. And it only needs to be changed about every 30k miles or every 2 years unless you drive in very dusty environment. So you only need 2-3 cabin filters in 5 years.
3. Even with all the things you mentioned you are still under $1000. Where are the savings??
4. Not pre-paying for maintance gives you more options in case you want to sell the car, or its totaled and etc. even if package is “transferable ” to a new owner, you will not get all your money back

1. you might be getting 7500 miles between oil changes, which is 11-12 oil changes.

You pay $30 for tire rotations? Do you have Discount Tire stores in your area? They do rotations for free, even if you were never a customer of theirs. They do this to try and make you one when you eventually need replacements.
#1549
The folks that came to JAX to buy their RDX's came at my invitation. I know the Acura dealer well and he has helped several folks on this forum that were willing to drive to JAX buy their vehicles.
#1550
Yep - $30 is average price here and what dealer charges. No Discount Tire store around me...
#1551
The maintenance is INCLUDED - I wouldn't be paying for it. One of the dealers offers that when you buy a car from them so i'm getting another to match that. That's my point - just saying it's about $1,000 value to me.I know the filter is easy DIY but still included so why not. Even at $700 value, still a value to me as it's one less thing to pay for.

thats good. I also dont think they will take off $1000 by removing the package. But if I was given a choice: $1000 or the package you mentioned, I’d keep $1000.

It's similar to when a restaurant screws up your food order and they offer a free desert to make up for it. The desert costs them far less then it would cost the diner to purchase it. A win/win.

I've pretty much decided on an Advance in White Diamond Pearl with Espresso or Parchment. I'll start calling / visiting dealers this week for prices. If it makes everybody feel better, I'll quote "OTD" prices, including 8.625% sales tax. Should be about 4 grand right there.
#1558
I've always taken that with a grain of salt because I've actually never heard a cogent explanation of it from anyone. It may be true or a complete myth but I've never challenged it, personally. I'm not hard on a car, in general, but I always try to take it easy the first couple thousand miles.
#1559
Get a quote from the JAX dealer and present it to your local dealer. Ask them match it or tell them you will go to JAX to buy it. Now you have no need to worry about the freeway driving, which I think you are over thinking.
