When it does happen I hope it improves the usability of Android Auto. I've read here people complaining about it but had never used it. It's my wife's car and she has an iPhone. The other day I drove her car and plugged my Android phone in. FFS it seems like the interface was designed by a freshman in high school taking their first programming class. It most certainly does not have the usability I'd expect for an upscale vehicle. But at least I'm typically driving my truck which has a way better implementation for AA.

If your system is currently working perfect, I'd avoid updating. There's rarely any new features that's introduced as part of an OTA update, and there's a better chance than not that it'll break something (as some folks here have had the privilege of experiencing). As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Of course, if your system is already pretty broken, no harm in being the guinea pig. What's the worst that can happen, it stays broken?

I am thinking after more 2021 TLX are sold, there will be more issues found due to bigger pool of people using this system. That is when we might get another update.
I agree, if it works, dont add anything new for now. I got mine working, I would be a bit scared to try a new update.

Rock solidly in this camp. Unless I develop a bug that's specifically covered in a future update, I'm not rolling the Acura update dice. I just don't trust them to get it right. YMMV; Accurate at time of printing.

I am basically pleased with the way it is working since the big D.1.2.1 update. The .2 didn't really do anything for me. I don't seem to have any glitches. I think my Android Auto connectivity has been solved by a second NEW USB cable from Monoprice. I also think the USB-C port on my phone may be getting looser with age, and this newest cable I bought seems to make a tighter fit into the phone. How does one know that from a website?

Anyway, I would like a few updates to the NAV software, not maps, but a few items that I think could be seriously improved, and should be. I haven't used it in so long I forget what some of them.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath on any new features or updates made to the navigation software. The processor is likely already overworked as it is, considering that it's a mid-range SoC from way back in 2014.

I agree with your desire for new features and refinements; I like the idea too. I think we all look forward to updates from our technology providers. I just don't have confidence that Honda/Acura will get it right, or resolve any bugs quickly if they don't.

I don't believe they've yet addressed the issue with the. 2 update from early May not installing in some vehicles. It's a minor update for sure, but would they do better if it wasn't? I'm not comfortable saying yes.

This car went on sale, IIRC, in June of 2018. The first, official, ‘quarterly’ map update was in July, 2019, by which time they had begun calling it yearly. It is now late August 2020. Well over two years after release, I wonder when the second map update will come out. Are they waiting 5 years so they can charge me for the second update?

Didn’t we get that map update in December?

@jbsfield I don’t understand your complaint about AA - isn’t it Google who controls that? Doesn’t AA look the same on every car?

(I have an iPhone so I don’t know)

Billy found it in November. With a July map date. Took Acura almost a year and a half to put out the first quarterly, or yearly

Early on i knew that the processor was/is overwhelmed, especially after startup for a couple minutes at least especially the audio and its not the phone.
