New 2021 RDX Advance

Hello all,

Just got my RDX delivered 2 day's ago. Did a lot of research for months after deciding on this awesome vehicle.and love everything about it except the TTI which is going ti take to learn. I went from a 2016 Maxima SR to this so it's quite a nice upgrade for my wife and son. Hoping to add running boards, welcome lights, and lighted sills soon and looking forward to reading all the insightful posts by all the members!!

Welcome! How come you need the running boards. The RDX isn't that big to get in and out.

You do need them if you use the RDX as a getaway car. The mugs toss in the moneybags, hop on the boards, wrap one arm around the B pillar and the other around the Tommy and clear things for the getaway.

Everybody knows that.

Beautiful! Love the white color. White made the final list for me but wifey wanted Espresso interior (which I enjoy too). Anyway, enjoy the awesome ride and crank up those 16 speakers...

We bought one a few weeks ago. We've only put about 300 mi on it but really like it so far. Some of the things that we were a little skeptical about we're actually liking (the HUD, some of the safety stuff) and there are a few that I think could be done better...the auto-off at stop lights (you can disable it but it comes back next time you start the car), the nav reverts back to the default view at start-up, the touch pad is a bit annoying and I'm having trouble adjusting to the buttons instead of a lever...but overall it's a nice car. We're coming from a 2014 RDX Tech and the new one is quite an upgrade. I'm a bit concerned about the long term reliability of all the electronics, tho, an AcuraCare warranty might be in the future just for that.

BTW, I somehow ended up with an extra cargo tray in case anyone is interested...

Congrats on the new car. It looks very sharp. I see you mentioned the TTI.The silly trackpad is the only thing that is holding us from getting into RDX. We got two sedans and one needs to go. Due to the Covid-19 situation, we don't really need two vehicles so the purchase got put on a back burner, but every time I think of RDX, the TTI comes to mind. We've had RDX as a loaner on few occasions (one time was for almost a week or so when our TL was in for oil consumption TSB) and even after a week of driving it, we could not get used to the interface. As much as we liked the car, I think the interface how you interact with the car is as important as driving characteristics or comfort and I am not sure we could close an eye to that.

We’ve had our 2019 for well over 2 years, and I honestly hardly ever use the TTI. It works fine with the native apps or to quickly select a radio preset, but I will admit it’s a bit finicky when using with CarPlay since it acts more like a trackpad in that mode. However, once everything is set up, I use the thumb wheel on the steering wheel to select XM stations, and the phone itself or Siri for navigation. Phone is also controlled by the steering wheel controls or Siri. The HUD does make things easier on the Advance.

Personally, I could probably live with it as is as I like to focus on driving that fiddling with UI; hence I choose Q50S fully aware that CarPlay wasn't available on it, but I would want to use it if it was available. I usually like to listen to Podcasts when I drive and navigating podcast on Q50 infotainment is a disaster - the whole infotainment is a total disaster to the point I wish I had 2-tier Acura's infotainment.

The RDX would be my wife's car, and she has very high hopes for CarPlay after playing with it in our friend's Pilot. She is a real estate broker, and there are weeks that she drives a lot and heavily depends on Apple Maps/Calendar/Apple Music, etc. She would be in CarPlay mode 99% of the time. She is used to the iPhone's smoothness and intuitiveness, and I am afraid that the RDX'es lackluster CarPlay integration would be a deal-breaker for her. We will wait for the next-gen Pilot and see if that car would better be suited for her. A real shame as otherwise, RDX would be a perfect car for her.
