New 2020 RDX First Impressions
Purchased my RDX 3 weeks ago, traded in an S2000 that I had daily-driven for the past 10 years. I will not compare the 2 cars, they are different in every way. What I will do is list the reasons I am beginning to appreciate my Acura: I can hear the stereo OVER the sound of the engine. Not having to shift a gazillion times in heavy commuter traffic. Able to pack more than a large roll of paper towels from Costco. I can browse a garage sale, now that I am able to pack large items in the cargo area. I can park the Acura in risky or remote parking spots with worrying that my top will be ripped open and my seats taken (S2000 seats are popular with Civic “motor heads. I don’t have to know which driveways will scrape my front spoiler within a 1 mile radius of my home. And last, but not least, on the freeway I don’t have to be wary of any trash or other objects in my lane (hitting anything will result to under-carriage damage, from my experience the worst things to hit are retreads, they will bring an end to whatever drive you were planning. In conclusion: the S2000 was love at first sight. With my RDX, I was attracted to the styling, and after comparing it to the other cars in it’s class i.e. Mercedes, Audi Q5, Porsche Macan, (I didn’t consider the Lexus, being a retired designer, I’d rather be poked in the eye with a pencil, than look at the front grille treatment) After comparing the competition I have come to the conclusion that the RDX is equally equipped, faster and cheaper than most of the competition. Faster and cheaper are always a winning combination for me. I hope to love the RDX as much as I loved the Honda, as the Acura proves itself over time. P.S. getting 23.5 mpg combined - very happy.

I love your description of the Lexus, I never described it that way, but I certainly agree!
The S2000 must have been awesome, though I guess it’s not intended to be a daily driver. And hopefully the RDX won’t be a constant target for theft.
Prior to buying my RDX, seriously considered the Macan. It was a great little car (and I do mean little) that was a fantastic driver. Fairly reliable, but the maintenance costs were insane. Looked at the Q5 and an X3. Very nice, but in the end I liked the RDX better.
Good luck with your new car, I hope you’re as happy as I’ve been.

Welcome! Glad you like it! I love it more and more each day. I can't believe how fast and responsive it is. I fear the potential for tickets. It took some time to learn many of the features, but it is all becoming fairly intuitive now. Enjoy your new ride!

I have to say I can not understand how Lexus designers can look at themselves in a mirror at producing that front end design! Those people must be smoking something evil to turn out cars like that. Same for all the Toyota vehicles. I have read that they are going to start backing away from that truly ugly front end design! My Acura dealer says they get a lot of customers who first looked at the Lexus and couldn't stomach that look.
I have had my RDX for ten months. I have made trips both ways across the US in it. I have not had any major issues with it. It runs great, handles great, its comfortable and my wife, who has never had any interest in cars actually loves it. (Those air conditions seats with all the adjustments really won her over with her back issues and all). Sister-in-law has a BMW X-3 which is an OK car with some nice features but over all I like the RDX better. Also, the cost of service on the BMW....it hurts!

If they ARE looking in the mirror, at least they don't spend time looking at the "fugly" Lexus/Toyota front end!!!!!
