Murano vs. RDX

Well after a good while with the new RDX, I think I can honestly say...wow. Just got back from a 200 mile road trip and this thing is sweet on the highway as well. And the stock stereo is very, very nice.

Coming from the Murano I left one of the best other SUVs out there. But what I didnt realize is what a step up there would be from Nissan to Acura in all aspects. And the step "down" to more of a CUV than SUV has been a wonderful decision. THe RDX is such fun to drive, and out handles the Murano in all aspects except maybe "luxury road dampening ride". But the more I drive this RDX I think back to my days of my old Probe GT and how that thing would corner. Well my RDX certainly handles in the corners alot better than the Murano did. It is just great to drive. I always thought the Mo was THE vehicle, but the RDX has won me over. It is so fun to drive and isnt that what its all about? I dont want a 36 ft Cadillac like ride, I want to take corners and feel the road. And be pampered doing it though, and the RDX interior certainly does that. I really just love this vehicle. I can still haul some cargo and be confident in our snowy winters. For the same price pretty much as the Murano. The only vehicle I hear people putting in the same category as the RDX is the X3. But unless I am missing something, without the Nav like my RDX, either with the small or bigger engine, with similar options, in Canada, the X3 is a HUGE $$ step above the RDX. Its in the MDX category. So I dont think its a proper comparison. For $42k Cdn I cant think of anything that compares...

Glad you are enjoying your RDX too. We looked at the Murano but I thought it was pricey for what you got and they are everywhere around here. Still like their looks but they are in need of an update soon. Jay

My dad has a Murano. Not sure what the actual dimensions are but it feels like a HUGE car. The dashboard is ridiculously long and so is the hood. I feel like I'm staring down the deck of an aircraft carrier. The blind spots are also bad with the long front and triangular rear quarter windows. The dash materials are very cheap feeling... lots of hard, monochromatic plastic. But the big kicker is whenever he turns the wheel sharply in a parking lot you hear a loud pop from the steering mechanism under the car. I'd take any Acura over any Nissan any day.

I went to Nissan Canada website and the top of the line Murano (the SL I think) costs $48k. It was quite surprising to me.

I think Murano is a nice looking ride. I liked the transmission, Acura won at the end of the day.

My grandmom has a murano and its actually a really nice car. For about 33k you get a lot for the money. Its got leather heated seats, HID lights, sunroof, navi with back up camara and 6 disc, that advanced key, its has more I just cant think of it right now. She has the 06 but it was one of the first 06s and at the time there was no RDX around but still the murano isnt a bad choice.
