Neutral drive mode is weird...

When I bought mine the dealer took me through the process twice! It is somewhat odd to hit the brake to pop it out of neutral but after a few times of doing so it's not a problem.

My bimmer needed that too, so it is natural to me now. Stupid, since I drove an MT for decades, but natural now.

it’s a safety thing so your car doesn’t just take off if a kid hit the button or if it was hit by accident

foot on brake
Yes, as Madd Dogg says, neutral needs a "foot on brake", BUT just a light, quick touch with foot on brake may be all that is needed. I call it finesse. Note: practice it in an empty parking lot.

Good to know, thanks! Haven’t been to a car wash yet, but I’ll practice before I do. Sounds weird....practice putting the car in drive from neutral!

I no longer use attendant operated or conveyor belt type car wishes with my 2019 RDX, out of fear that something may be done incorrectly and cause damage. I use only the touchless car wash where there are no rails and you pull in, stop, move forward, stop, etc. yourself as the car is washed and then dried. The fear in any car wash is that they pack the cars tightly and if you are not quick to pull of after drying, you can be hit by the car close behind you. Some car washes have their exit so close to a busy street that you are caught in a bind between unable to enter the street and the guy inching behind you!

vvraman, youre so right about carwashes, and i try to avoid them. I was hit in a car wash when i had my previous SUV. This was at the start of the wash where they stack you up. I was already in the wash, and some lady came in too close and hit me.
