But it doesn't have that large a range so if you typically park blocks away, then it's sort of pointless. Also, it goes without saying, but don't start a car in an enclosed garage. The remote start will only last for 10 minutes and then the car will automatically shut off.

Sounds good guy. I think I will drop the deal.
At the same price range is what I would get a base RDX at 38K, would you guys recommend that brand new instead then? OR should I just wait it out on the RDX over all?
I see a few issues being reported here and there?

If you're going to get a base RDX, I think it's totally fine, but make sure you know what you are and are not getting and that you are OK with it. "Base" means it's FWD, not AWD. Definitely test drive both to see if you think there's a handling difference that would bother you. Also, the sound system is not the ELS that is getting great reviews and there's no 360 backup camera (but there is a standard backup camera). Stuff like that. I wouldn't go to that same dealer, either, since you know that they're rip-offs, so probably they will do the same thing on a new purchase. As I said, you could also look on Acura's website for higher-end trims that are used in your price-point. But the base model is totally fine.

Also, I demand that you go back to this guy and offer him $20,000 and tell us his reaction.

Or, actually, if you have some free time, make like you're going to buy it and act really excited and get all the way up to signing the papers and then walk out. LOL

This is what is happening as of now, I was just waiting on my finance work and he is expecting to see me today after work, and I am not going.

Are they offering 1.9 percent for 60 months?

Also, yeah if they’re not providing you a carfax easily they’re being shady. At least my dealer provided the carfax upfront on their website before I even came in to take a look at the car.

Is the car even certified preowned? If not I would be very wary as the car could have prior damage.

The 38K base model was AWD. Yes I noticed the sound difference, and I appreciate your opinion. I was aware of most of these and I think I can live with out them.
Although yes it would be nice to have the looks of A Spec, it is not totally required I guess. Or I just wait it out for more used RDX in the market.

Yes sorry I dint mean that. They do have car fax. I thought I mentioned this, maybe not.
The record is clean. It is not certified for some reason.

He did try to convince me saying that this first owner was his good best friend etc.

I think you better double check that because the base model is FWD AFAIK. You can see it on the website. You always need to add $2000 for AWD. Also, I think the parking sensors are not standard and I really need those. Like I said, the front of the RDX is weird and I can't get a good feel for where it ends.

The reason why this is not certified because it is from a Honda dealership, not Acura dealership. What you're saying makes a lot of sense now.

To certify a vehicle, the Acura dealership needs to pay a fee to submit the certification paperwork to corporate. Therefore, CPO vehicles cost more because of that extended warranty they get.

Let's collectively as a website start bidding up the price. Someone contact them and offer them $42,000. Ha ha ha!

Correct, my apologies for a couple of things. Thanks for your help, or else I was excited for the price.
You are right I added AWD option to the base and was getting that for $38 and I got the aspec used for $38.8 so I was kinda excited, but good thing I decided to get on here before doing anything stupid.

The other safer options I was considering are Mazda CX5 and Subaru Outback. I dint really like the Rav4. It did not seem worth it. I guess this would not be the right forum to talk about other brands lol just wanted to see if anyone owned any of those in the past. Although I did like Acura, it seems over budget now if I want to add a few cool things lol and I am scared of running into issues after spending that much.

Honestly, I feel like that 37.8k pricing you got is probably $1k higher than what would be considered a good deal. Like I said, I paid $41800 (which was too much IMO) for my advance AWD model with 12k miles with longer warranty, running boards, all weather mats, and a possible remote engine start installed. However, getting that extended warranty alone would've cost me almost $2k through AcuraCare.

I'm just saying, that pricing is not super atrocious for a A-SPEC AWD model, especially a new one that costs $46k.

Here's a YouTube channel I really found helpful when I was shopping for cars. He has a video on the Mazda and at the end he does some comparisons to other cars in the segment, including the Acura RDX (spoiler: the RDX is way better, but costs more). I hope this helps you out. Good luck with car shopping!

I test drove the Mazda CX-5 GTR before I drove the RDX, and the Mazda made me really feel nauseous. The seats are nowhere near as comfortable as the RDX, and the space is a lot smaller. It was a shame, because I was researching for a couple months and really wanted to like the CX-5. The stiff handling in the CX-5 also probably contributed to my nausea. That screen also is too small and outdated.

So this could still work out if I could squeeze out another $1K ?

If you watch his videos (there are multiple) on the Acura RDX, you will realize how truly awesome the RDX is.

Personally, I think so. Ask them to throw in AcuraCare for free. Do some research on the costs of AcuraCare factory extended warranty. Also, the pictures are of low quality on the site. It's hard to tell if there are any damage.

What's the other fees they're adding onto the cost? You said it would cost around $42k after taxes and fees? What's the interest rate they're offering for financing?

Dude, seriously, don't talk him into buying that used car. At least shop around for a different used car. Don't get a used car with 18,000 miles on it in under a year. WTF.

They literally were not willing to do anything on the top of it. I guess even if I go back now he would not reduce the price anymore since he knows I am back.
I did my own finances 3.99 pre approved.

Yeah 3.99 is way too high for a used car. I would look elsewhere.

The dealer gave me 1.99% for 60 months, which is what sold me. They also gave me an extra couple hundred on my trade compared to other places.

Yes it was 41K after taxes and fees. My trade in was worth $11. Rest $30 was finance.

Brakes squeaking and infotainment issues were the only things he told me that were issues from the previous owners and like I said, the brakes were squeaking when I drove it too.

My car had 12k miles and it was delivered to the dealer in October last year, which means in 7 months 12k miles was put on the vehicle. I mean yeah, it's a lot of miles, but my dad's Honda is 12 years old with 250k miles with no problems mechanically. All he did was regular maintenance like oil changes.

Yup that was my dad too and couple of my friends have the older Acura (2013 - 2014 non turbo engines) and they are all at 125 K miles no issues.
I was just a bit skeptical on the engine dilution and all I had been reading about but again that is not for every single car I guess. And I believe that can be fixed with software update.

If you're considering buying the car, make sure you get the AcuraCare. Might be better to buy it right before the original warranty expires. It'll cost around $2k, but you're extending your warranty for another 5 years, 120k miles.

So there is time for this, this had to be done before the 50,000 miles mark right?

Correct. Before 4 years from the in service date or 50k miles, whichever comes first.

Looking at the Carfax, I'm a little suspicious, because there's no service records until when it was received by the dealership selling the car. You have no idea when the oil was last changed. If it was running the same oil for 17k miles, I would be wary, especially because the car is turbo'd.

I was worried too, I raised that concern.
Like I said they contacted the original owner and he did say he got it serviced at an acura.
My dealership guy then called that acura and gave them the VIN number and got them to pull out the records. I just dont have that record, they said they could give me that towards the end only. But it looks like it was done 2 times in between. So over all it seemed ok to me. More over they were giving me a good trade in offer. $1K over other places.

This decision is entirely up to you. You're probably saving around $5k over new. With 18k miles, it's up to you to think if it's worth that savings for 18k miles.

My car when they showed me the CarFax showed 7 service history records, all done at Acura by the 12k miles. (Of course this is expected as it was a dealer loaner.)

Also, try to lower that finance rate. 3.99 is the average rate, but that's still pretty high. If you have a good credit score, see if the dealer can offer you 1.99%. I know Acura was offering 1.99% for 60 months as an incentive for CPO RDX's.
