Lunar Silver Touch Up Paint - 2021 RDX

Does anyone know where I can get touch up paint that would match my 2021 Lunar Silver RDX? I once again had a minor slip up in the garage and ran into the side AND the garage door closed on the tailgate 😡 so I have fro scratches (side mirror and tailgate).

Above link is a better way to go than the 15 dollar touch up pens….

How does this touch-up paint kit compare to Dr.Colorchip's touch-up paint kit? I have used Dr. Colorchip with success on previous vehicles.

i tried Dr. Color chip on my last vehicle, that stuff is super hard too use, to obtain great results. The smear method and then use their reducer makes a mess.

Acura dealerships probably sell paint pens that don't match either. Call them. Probably like $15. At least the numbers will be correct for the VIN?

Ha! Coincidentally - today I picked up the Lunar Silver touch up paint for my RDX at the dealership. While I paid for the pen, they applied it free of charge - and offered that I come back any time for them to touch up anything I needed again.

I prefer they do it, I tried it once on my Accord and felt like I made it worse.

(The pen cost me around $25.)

Wow. That's great customer service. I definitely find it tricky to learn to touch up paint and frequently screw it up when I do.

Thanks for letting me know. I will ask my dealership if they can fix mine too because I actually tried to apply the stuff I bought and it didn't look so good so I just removed it. LOL

I have found over the years there are two keys to getting the OEM touch-up paint to look good. One is to not apply too much paint all at once; it's much better to apply too little and then have to add a coat or two more to fully fill the scratch/ding. And the other is to make sure you have EXTREMELY steady hands. Sometimes, depending on the location you're trying to touch up, this can be really difficult. I always support my hand with something solid, or at the very least my other hand to help keep things smooth and steady.

It's certainly not like whipping out a brush to smear some paint over a mark on a wall, that's for sure!

If the touch up location is pretty small you can use a toothpick to put the pain on in very small dabs.

I once (just barely) scraped the side of my RDX getting out of a tight underground parking spot. It was so slight, not very deep, but very noticeable. I took it to my local body shop where they know me. I asked for a quote. $1500! The guy was kind though and said that if I got a touch up pen, he would apply it for me. So I drove to Acura and got the pen. And he fixed it. And what a difference! I've applied touch up paint myself in the past and it just makes a mess. In the hands of this ARTIST, though, it seemed to fill the scratches perfectly. He told me not to bother with the clear coat so I didn't. And to this day, you can only see the scratches if you look close.

So ya, I second this! Touch up paint has a bad reputation, but it's not terrible in the right hands.
